I agree that the Capricorn group weren't just 'chosen because they are German' I think they are more likely to keep the Nurburgring closer to what it is now in spirit than a foreign investment firm with big ideas.Google Capricorn group, run by true enthusiasts, not just any "investment group".
It is ironic that he was born in Austria but created hate of immigrants. I read somewhere that his superiors and comrades thought that he wasn't a leader just a lonely and politically minded messenger boy. I think he almost died in a gas attack despite being mostly a few miles back from the front. Shame the gassing didn't work out as history may have been much more peaceful.
Right now I see Putin on TV a lot and he seems to a nationalist with communist sympathies. I believe he wants to re-unite some of the old USSR that he believes belongs to Russia. Also the country seems to have a lot of small hate groups that hide their true motivations under the pretext of enforcing religious or nationalistic beliefs.
In this way I think Russia is a little like pre-WW2 Germany and Putin is a little like pre-WW2 Hitler but I'm not a historian I could be wrong.
I know Ukraine will greatly resist fighting Russia because they will then lose the whole country. Also it seems like most people in the Crimea want Russia to rule it. Both sides want peace so hopefully it will work out.

back on topic any chance they will reduce the cost of what happens should you fall off, not that I'd plan to but accidents do happen
Should I make my first Ring trip this year or wait until next year.......

I'd make it this year if it's Touristenfahrt that you want to do.

This is my main worry about the ring. If I have an off the car can be repaired/replaced but the costs for damaging the ring sound very high.back on topic any chance they will reduce the cost of what happens should you fall off, not that I'd plan to but accidents do happen

If I didn't have a wife and kids, I'd move to Adenau just to be able to drive the Ring, which I'd do every day with pleasure.

Don't have a look at my profile then If it's a private day you're doing then I don't see much difference to doing it this year to next, tbh.
I think I'd actually get up early and drive round it on my way to work every morning if I lived there.

Conference/exhibition space, hotel accommodation, restaurants/entertainment, improved transport infrastructure including pedestrian access to all the above. Garages and expanding the testing facilities. This is the sort of thing that brings in the cash and makes the whole thing not just viable, but profitable. Also the brand, be it 'the ring' or whatever, isn't at all being exploited to its full potential.
And I'm not talking about theme parks or 'Ferrari World' type monstrosities either. The potential to do it right is huge.
F*ck it, they need me. I'm the visionary. Capricorn One...my body is ready.
I would also chuck into that list: Dealerships. Want a sports car or track car? Head to the Ring where every specialist tuner and builder has a retail outlet. And I'm not talking about theme parks or 'Ferrari World' type monstrosities either. The potential to do it right is huge.

One of the core problems with the Ring is that lots of wealthy people turn up and there is no real mechanism for opening their wallets and emptying them. Failure to monetise footfall is one of their core issues to date. From basic performance parts for a range of cars to entire cars the Ring could be a veritable shopping mecca for the car lover.

I used to, I even used to do a lap on a Sunday morning when my wife sent me out to get rolls for breakfast. GC8, I have no reason to believe that TF will stop and Capricorn have said that it'll carry on. It's just that Evo asked this year or next for his first trip, I said this year, just to be on the safe side.

Agree 100%. It never ceases to amaze me how little there is here for people with money to burn, bearing in mind how many of them visit the place! One of the core problems with the Ring is that lots of wealthy people turn up and there is no real mechanism for opening their wallets and emptying them. It takes a special arrogance to make fun of you when this is the view of Brooklands race circuit from a Tesco's Metro Carpark and all we are left of is making a TV show about building a scale model of it in Scaletrics.
I moved here a couple of years ago. I was astounded when I realised the Brooklands race track had been cut up to allow a Tescos development. Absolutely disgraceful. Mind you we put a motorway almost through Stone Henge, plus the entire country was gang raped by crap architects during the 1960s, so nothing surprises me anymore. In many respects this country is a damn mess.Good news, but why all the animosity towards the theme park/roller coaster etc.?
If it doesn't affect the track itself and the tourist days, then surely you just choose not to use them?
I appreciate that maybe I'm missing something and that I haven't been since these things were about (2007 was my last visit) but I genuinely don't see the issue?

Whilst I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on German culture, I believe that the locals would absolutely abhor turning Nurburg into a Le Mans style retail experience / theme park sort of affair. Yes it's a bit limited in terms of pubs/bars/shops etc but I like how businesslike the place is. You turn up to this little jewel of a place in countryside, have a decent steak unt weissbeer at the pistenklause, race and repeat fora few days, then auf weidersehn. Does the village even have the capacity to double the amount of traffic it would experience during peak season? It would be miserable for everyone. One of the core problems with the Ring is that lots of wealthy people turn up and there is no real mechanism for opening their wallets and emptying them. And the Bundeslige is a great achievement. They kick ass internationally and play good football whilst managing to keep the constitution of teams predominantly German.
Germans (IME) tend towards moderation and caution over ostentation and irrational exuberance and I'm just glad the place is going to remain open.
