What kind of car transporter would you have preferred? An abnormal one?
It isn't the normal way to transport a £100k+ rare supercar. You'll rarely if ever see a ferrari on an open car transporter being delivered to a dealer or customer.PH continues to go downhill thanks to sarcastic bellends

Cost will be a factor as to why BMW don't deliver every i8 to every dealer on a single, covered transporter. It could also increase delivery times by a small amount too.
Like someone else has already pointed out, Porsche and Audi with the R8 deliver their cars on conventional transporters.
