At Bonhams Quail Lodge Auction earlier today (where they auctioned the Ferrari 250GTO for $38M)
I assume its a German registered car which they've brought over and put on temporary California plates, well a rear plate at least.
Could be wrong but i dont think a front plate is needed in all states. thats why they they usually have words written on them. so im guessing front for show rear is realI assume its a German registered car which they've brought over and put on temporary California plates, well a rear plate at least.

It is just for show - rear plate is real.I assume its a German registered car which they've brought over and put on temporary California plates, well a rear plate at least.
Temp plates in california consist of a sticker in the windshield (unlike most states where it is a full sized paper temp tag in the regular place) - hence why lots of cars in CA run around with dealer plates or no plates at all, particularly celebrities. Limit is three months, but used to be six.
Some states you don't need a front plate at all. You do legally need it in CA, but the ticket is not expensive, and rarely enforced. I am not sure that relaxed approach would be applied to having a somewhat confusing foreign plate on it though!

That really gets my OCD going. I couldn't live with different registration plates on the front and back. Would just look so much better if they matched. It's almost as bad as having German style plates over here for your UK number plate.I assume its a German registered car which they've brought over and put on temporary California plates, well a rear plate at least.

Ok not a supercar but the name fits, I've never seen one in the flesh before, was a nice looking thing and if I was a man of means I'd get one for the mrs, so I could say I bought the other half an Aston
I'd feel a dick to be honest. "Eh, lads. I've bought the missus an Aston."
"Very funny, putting Aston badges on an Aygo! Hahahahaha. dhead"
"No, really..."
It just isn't an Aston to me. I'd rather have an Aygo and something like an Elise instead.

Imagine how you'd feel if the previous owner had done this to it... (spotted today in London)"Eh, lads. I've bought the missus an Aston."

Well, it has been a few weeks since the last time this rather boring line has cropped up.
Phrases often become common parlance when they explain exactly what is meant and insinuated quickly and simply. How does one go about explaining to another poster that an Aston Cygnet isn't a supercar or terribly rare? A standard 458 may fit the supercar bracket, but also isn't very rare in London. A 599 GTO is very rare, particularly in RHD.

Less words, more pictures, please.
So someone posts a picture of something less rare/super/whatever than the thread really deserves? So what? Better if folk just skipped over it, and got back to posting the good stuff. I say this because I've noticed that as soon as someone has a dig at the 'off topic' picture(s) then we have pages of earnest beard stroking discussion about what is, and isn't, a supercar, and whether 'mundane' rarities ought to be allowed. Well, "newsflash!" chaps. Beard stroking pedantry definitely isn't included in the definition of supercars and rarities
...so...
...get snapping

There are about the same number of Ferrari GTO registered in the UK as Cygnets according to How Many Are Left. It is a pretty rare car (thankfully).Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
