RE: Porsche Cayenne Diesel S: Review
Discussion
One reason for choosing one of these as opposed to a regular executive estate is the residual value. This month's What Car shows a 3 year RV for the Audi S6 Avant at 33% as opposed to 57% for the 4.8S petrol Cayenne (there was no figure for the Diesel S, but the regular diesel was at 61%).
Just to follow up on this, my wife has put her money where her mouth is and we collect a new on of these on Wed. Nice Xmas present to herself!
The V6 Cayenne retained 84% of it's value at trade in, after just over 2 years and about 15,000 miles. Pretty brilliant I thought.
The new one is "moonlight blue"..

Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS), Air Suspension with self-leveling function incl. PASM, 8-Speed Tiptronic S inc. auto start stop function, 18-inch collapsible spare wheel, Seat heating, Comfort memory package, Porsche crest embossed on head restraints, BOSE Surround Sound System, Digital radio (DAB), Black smooth-finish leather interior, panoramic roof system, Heated Windscreen, Reversing camera incl. ParkAssist front & rear, Automatically dimming interior & exterior mirrors with integrated rain sensor, Power Steering plus, 21-inch 911 Turbo design wheel with wheel arch extentions, Steering wheel heating, Speed limit indicator, Comfort Lighting Package, Porsche Communication Management (PCM) incl. navigation module, telephone module, Black Full leather interior - New Condition, Tyre condition New, Four wheel-drive, Standard Features - Power Tailgate, Bi-Xenon headlights.

Wow, very very nice indeedy.
I presume the performance difference is quite large from the V6. I'm tempted towards a V8 myself, but I don't know where I'd get to use the extra grunt. My V6 seems quick enough most of the time.
And you say your old V6 retained 84% (which is fantastic) - is that 84% of the base price or 84% of the price with all your extras on?

Price we paid with extras (we kept them to a minimum). I cant see us getting away with that this time given this car has £22k of them. A few we didnt need/want, but the discount made up for it.I presume the performance difference is quite large from the V6. The difference is night and day. Dont get me wrong the V6 is a great engine, and "plenty" 95% of the time. DO NOT test drive a V8 you will want one... It's a different car...

Did you say d-d-d-discount? I thought all OPC salesmen were trained from day one never to mention or respond to the 'd' word. The difference is night and day. Dont get me wrong the V6 is a great engine, and "plenty" 95% of the time. DO NOT test drive a V8 you will want one... It's a different car...
You're saying they gave you 'd' AND 84% of what you paid for the V6?! I presume the V8 is a demonstrator. Either way, Xmas has come early in your part of the world.
And yes, no fear. I've deliberately stayed away from my OPC for fear of asking, or being asked about a test drive in a V8, because I know damn well what the outcome would be.

I did. I work in sales, I spend my life negotiating deals from the other side of the fence. It's about timing. They need a few cars for the end of year...You're saying they gave you 'd' AND 84% of what you paid for the V6?! I presume the V8 is a demonstrator. No it isnt a demo - new and unregistered. It would have been registered before the year was out and used as a demo.
