Best Smoker Barges 1-5 large [Vol 7]
Discussion
One for the 124 devotees.
I've picked up a 1994 E280 this morning, and in the paperwork is a recommended price list for 1994 124's covering 200-500 models, coupes and cabriolets and limousines.
I wonder how many E200 buyers decided to specify the AMG suspension and multi-piece wheel package retailing at £7907.06......

I don't want to detract too much (if any of you are interested in following my past year and bit of illness and further updates follow my thread "what's wrong with me".. But I have a couple of appointments next week to see a neurosurgeon. Looks promising.

Don't suppose you fancy selling the pricelist?I've picked up a 1994 E280 this morning, and in the paperwork is a recommended price list for 1994 124's covering 200-500 models, coupes and cabriolets and limousines.

And how's the 280? Full report expected in early course.
I've not stopped by the barge thread in a while, had to go away for a while with work, after that on a stag do to Berlin (including Trabant safari) and then on hols in evo triangle country. I thought when I got back I should concentrate a bit more on working during the day so I fell out of the habit.
So I pop back in today and hear your news Ross - completely floored me. Like everyone else I wish you the very best of luck.
Anyway - the reason I popped in, is it's an MB world Sunday Service this week (apologies if it's already been mentionned). I'm hoping to be able to get to it - but I remember the last one there I met Ross and a good number of other bargists. Saw Jonathan's 124 and JJ's pagoda. I'm assuming r129sl isn't an exhibitionist this time? Anyone going?

Unfortunately not me as it's Remembrance, and I have a speaking part elsewhere. Enjoy it though. I was on the list to going but pulled out because I wasn't sure what was happening this week with hospital appointments etc, I've just spent st loads on the car and I went to an SS just a few weeks ago so decided to give someone else a place.
Can roughly imagine how 0a felt once he got his W124 back after all that work.... Mine feels amazing now.
Just out of curiosity, based on what was done to my car how many hours labour do we think that works out at? I guessing pretty much a full days work!?

I think mine probably came from a lower base, that's the only difference. There is something rather satisfying about deliberately finding a bad road and feeling the car deal with it as a new one would, isn't there? There's a particular patch of bad tarmac on the way into work that was very poor before that in now dealt with in a very satisfying, consistent way (the W124 was never a 'soft' car so you can still feel it, but it feels very 'right').

My new 124 shouldn't be so n this forum by rights as it cost less than £1000, including a year's test. And how's the 280? Full report expected in early course.
Its as you may expect at this level, the odd bleb, in need of a service and a touch grubby. It's on cheap tyres, but sounds smooth and has some history and recent bills for brake pipes and suspension work.
I'm going to attempt the paintwork myself at some stage, as its white it should be reasonably straightforward.....
I'm totally rubbish at running cars like this without some sort of betterment schedule.

With a lift, correct tools and someone who knows the car, I'd guess 5-6 hours. Thats what I'd be looking to do it in.
Knowing me, it would end up talking double
First of all I wanted to echo the other comments on here and pass on my very best wishes to you Ross.
I don't really like the tints either and would like to remove them, but not sure how much work is involved. Maybe the rear door cards need to come off to gain access to the bottom part of the windows? Also I'm a bit worried about the removal pulling off the rear window's heating element, or is that sandwiched into the glass rather than stuck on top of it? Anyone have any good tips (heat with hairdrier to loosen the glue first)?
I'm not sure why some of these bizarre 'mods' were done - the first thing I did was to swap all the interior lights as someone had changed them to blue LEDs, which gave the car a very weird ambience!

I agree 540i Tourings are not that 'rare', but they are in manual and sport guise, how many left shows 9 licensed and 1 SORN, it peaked at 12 - see link https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/bmw_540_i_sp...
Love the Double Six, but not so sure about the rear tints?
Next, apologies. I missed the 'sport' bit - mine is just a 'normal' 6-speed manual 540i. Pretty rare but not compared to a Sport!Love the Double Six, but not so sure about the rear tints?

The badges are definately not original to the car - they're not even from a Jaguar.
The X300 V12 had very small V12 badges on the central stainless steel pillar between the doors.
Ok, think I will remove them then but I'll be stuck with the Union Jacks I think. I have the small V12 badges on the B-pillars. Do you know whether the D badge on the top of the front grille should be gold too - mine is silver but I think may have just faded over time and if so I will replace. Where is best on here to get the knowledge from people on what is OE - should I start a thread on Reader's Cars or post for help in the Jaguar forum or something? ThanksThe X300 V12 had very small V12 badges on the central stainless steel pillar between the doors.
