I don't get why the dry weight was stated in the piece, I mean.. just why?
It's technically not a car when dry, it's a collection of parts. Without the coolant, oil and fuel it can't do anything.
I can see why they quote weights without fuel as a car with a 90 litre fuel tank would be penalised by c20kg on the spec sheets against an otherwise identical car with a 60 litre tank. Agree re oil and coolant.

Earky days yet, once we see more, and hopefully in more flashy colours, minds would begin to change, I think....
Fixed that for you! Updated the article pics with a more lively looking set of a green car also on the event; we were driving a white one but I thought the bright colours worked better. Original set pasted below the vid for comparison. And the dry weights thing is a quirk of the supercar manufacturers, especially the Italians. FWIW I realise it doesn't make any 'sense' as such but at least it allows a fair comparative baseline without the confusion of which standard (DIN, EU, etc) the weight is calculated to, is it with or without driver, etc...
That and dry is the only weight figure they provided us with!
Cheers,
Dan
Nope sorry still don't like it. I was hoping it would grow on me but it hasn't. I can usually forgive Lamborghinis a few foibles as let's face it, in the ultimate dynamics stakes they've usually come out second best compared to their rivals BUT they've always had presence that was unmatched by nothing else but they seem to have lost that too. If this had an Audi badge on it I wouldn't mind but this is a Lamborghini, a LAMBORGHINI. Far too un-original and boring to look at for my liking, give me a late Gallardo LP or Superleggera any day of the week.
Is this a sign of the ever increasing influence of VAG?

Relevant how?As for Huracan, I'm disappointed by its look and now in its first reviews.
What a shame.
Just can't see myself buying one.
I would wait and see the car in real life and drive the thing before making assumptions on a video of someone driving a road car round a race circuit.
It feels to me as though the outrageous aspect to many previous Lamborghini cars has been lost since Audi moved in. Sure, it has a sexy body, but that's probably contrived to snare a few customers the new R8 won't reach.
Obviously I haven't driven one; I'm sure it's fantastic, I just feel it is a bit diluted. Appreciate though that Lamborghini may not be producing cars at all without Audi.

I've historically been a Lamborghini fan but I do feel this car seems a bit lost.
It's not competent enough to tackle McLaren and Ferrari at their own game and it's not outrageous enough to really stand up with 'traditional' Lamborghini appeal.
It's trying to bridge all camps and doesn't appear to succeed entirely on any of them.

The Gallardo -- one of the most beautiful cars ever made -- was always going to be a hard act to follow.
The Huracan has been over-Germanized. It is basically an R8 with a Lambo badge stuck on it. It has been designed more with the head than the heart. Financially, it is good (they will survive). Emotionally, it is bad (looks a bit rubbish). Will have to wait for the Lambo Increíble in 2020, or whatever they end up calling the next version, for a better model.

Just read the article... Not what I would call a glowing review is it? Basically the engine and styling save it.. Steering and chassis are a bit pants..
Good effort from Lambo. They just had 10yrs+ time to develope it after all.. With access to VW group parts and knowledge base too...
Underwhelming. But could be a good thing for those 550-2 values in manual and good steering and communicative chassis. Not sure the 60 hp will be sorely missed either.

Love the looks
But overall i feel Dan was being very polite, as i feel this car is lagging behind its direct rivals.
Considering it has just been launched that doesnt bode well for the future
I imagine at somepoint they will have to accept defeat and go down the downsized turbo charged route. At that point with the steering resolved i imagine it will be a great package.
Although i acccept that the sound of the current engine is superb
Why would moving to a Turbo help? The engine is the best bit! Don't think the car lacks for power and really, for a road car, how much more power do you really want? Anything north of 600 bhp is already insane! Keep the n/a engine please and the glorious soundtrack, and sort the rest!
