I'll preface my post by saying I own an E39 528i and an E39 M5.

I have read all the comments about the 6 series and the great value they represent if you are feeling brave.
I however would punt towards a CL Merc if I was in the market for a classy 2 door coupe.
Just so much more presence

You can choose zero excess though. Increases the price a bit admittedly.
No you can't - withdrawn. Minimum excess is £100 now.

Agree with other comments re. styling. Plus, on any day of the week, how many people these days are looking for a (perceivably) thirsty petrol coupe?

Also, is 15k actually cheap? A quick search suggests that 2007 Audi V8 models like the S4 go for 10k or so.

I'd love a 645Ci, a friend of mine had one a few years ago and it was like a refined Burt Reynolds Trans Am, much fun!

The potential running costs/borkfactor of a CL would be far greater than those of a 6 I'd have thought.

Gotta be honest, I really like the last 6 series, I'm sure consumables and the rubber and servicing can hurt your wallet but it certainly is a lot of car for the money! I can't believe what you can pick an M6 up for considering the performance available.

I always work on cars halving in value every 3 years and it generally rings true so this is pretty much bang on for that stat!
I also endorse that as a good rule of thumb.

Can fall down though, wouldn't have been a very good way of deciding between a new Citroen C6, a new Cadillac CTS or a new Audi A4 hehe

Save a bit more and get a black M5 or M6.

Most BMWs are rubbish, but they are two great cars. Quick, with presence, and plenty of gadgets to fiddle with.

Why are these comments ALWAYS from people who neglect to fill in the garage part of the profile so we can't see what they personally drive hehe

The 1.6 Vauxhall Astra just kills all credibility I am afraid.

But I have a Volvo and a Renault so what do I know? frown

That said looking at his other threads he's shopping for a helicopter so perhaps he does have something rather tasty on the drive, too tongue out
