don't care that its expensive, love the format and package.
love the colour and sheer marketing presence of such a vehicle, its got loads of publicity and maybe that was the masterplan.
Jaguar Cars are on a real up and were a bargain buy for Tata.

the colour is very similar to press launch RS2 and that still sought.

I will never have one, so what, I can make do with the old RS2, that can still frighten when unleashed, well at present age it can.

well done Jaguar, what next to prove it can be done this side of the channel.

p.s. the rear rs badge looks a touch like the earlier audi version from 1994.

Impressive piece of machinery, but I can't begin to tell you how much I hate those wheels! Did they pinch the design from Mattel? Hideous.

The rest of the car isn't very pretty either and if I was shopping for a big beast I would probably go with a Merc or Audi and blend into the background with thousands of others. No I don't understand it either - maybe Jaguar and estate car still doesn't sound right to my ears.

that has got to be the dullest engine bay ever.

Seems like I'm in the minority but that is ghastly. Mind you I'm no fan of the regular Sportbrake either and don't understand the high praise they seem to get. Saloons yes but the estate doesn't look right to me.

Granted your unlikely to see the back end of your car often unless its moments before wrapping it around a tree but that rear looks like something Vauxhall would come up with.

I'd take an E63 AMG S Estate over this every day of the week and save myself £7K too. biggrin

Each to their own i guess, but I thought the E class looked overly fussy and a bit ugly, the 5 series really bland and the Audi is, well, an Audi.

I really didn't want a car I could lose in a carpark and I didn't want a car that looked like a base model from 100 yards away. Some do and that's fine. I realise I'm substantially younger than most people buying these sorts of cars.

Best of all is that with just over 100 saloons and a similar number of estates planned, my car will always be rare, which appeals greatly to me.

If this was an article about a BMW, Audi or Mercedes, the car would be getting slated pretty badly, and pretty much everyone will be saying how dull it is, doesn't matter if it has 500-600 bhp, and how expensive it is...

£82k+ before options, and people complain that German cars are too expensive rolleyes
You forget the Jag has most the options already being the flagship. It's the German wagons that tend to be + options more of the time to actually get the car you want and is actually tested and lauded by the press.
yeah have fun on the RS6 configurator. you will surpass that price easily

Given that the XF is around 7 years old now with a refresh about 3 years ago, that looks absolutely stunning, and puts all the German marques to shame. To look that good after this amount of time is testament to Ian Callum's eye for detail

Also, given that performance of a lot of cars is bunching up at sub 5 seconds 0-60, then looks are far more important than ever. Given that, Jag are perfectly placed to to lead the pack given the mundane soulless crap that Merc, BMW and Audi currently produce.

This.

I am very impressed with all of these cars and whilst the Jaguar is dearer out of the stables once you add a few extras onto the Germans to bring them up to a similar level spec wise (not that they are lacking) I doubt the price be that different. Either way, I'd take the Jaguar in an understated cover like dark grey. It is THE SHIZ.

I just said "the shiz"..... nono

Depends, I've been looking at getting an RS6 and it's very well appointed as standard you really don't "need" any of the options.

I speced one with 21" wheels (yes I know!)/panoramic roof/head up display/led head lights and a couple of bits it came to 72k with discount.

My memory may be total faulty but wasn't the RS2 over £50k when in sale 20 years ago?

Means this car is cheap!!!

What will this be with any pending discount?

ill have another play. I was dreaming I cant afford one :9 I think my spec came to about 95k. I probably added carbon ceramics etc

Ill have a play again

as to this car they seem to have made it worse looking than the standard estate, which i think is a beautiful machine. but id need to see one in the flesh.

For me estate wise

1)CLS AMG estate
2)E class AMG 63
3) Jag

As others have said I prefer the saloon or possibly the XK to look at but if you need an estate then this is lovely especially in that blue I think it's great. It's like the Ray Winstone of cars.
The new Jaguar XFR-S is a Sexy Beast.

Well I just ignore all those! I'm tempted to just take one as it is TBH.

But the option ticking once you start becomes a habit.
