Just out of interest, if that person was visiting someone who perhaps never had a driveway would you prefer that they should completely park in the road, rather than straddle both?
I would, yes.
Same here. Pavements are for pedestrians, not cars.

Disappointed to post this!!!! (Bit tongue in cheek!).....

Someone doesn't read this thread!!

I am glad to see another PH'er in my home town though!!! ????
Personally I wouldn't say that was bad. It's not on double yellows, blocking a drive or road. It's left enough room for people to get past on the pavement (a bit tight admittedly but it's grass not a wall).
Dunno - I reckon you'd struggle to get a wheelchair or a large pram/double buggy through that gap without having to go partially onto the grass.

I also reckon they would be touch and go with regards to highway code rule 242.
I can think of plenty of pavements where frankly they aren't wide enough to fit a "wheelchair or a large pram/double buggy" on, where do you draw the limit? I personally think that leaving enough for a normal buggy/pushchair is reasonable. Especially if there *is* grass rather than a hedge/wall on the inside.

I'd say that was enough to fit a decent buggy/pushchair through and maybe a wheelchair. Hard to tell in photos sometimes though but it's clear you can get through, unlike something like this one.

You MUST NOT leave your vehicle or trailer in a dangerous position or where it causes any unnecessary obstruction of the road.
Not sure how that's applicable? Did you mean 244?

They were there when I went to the solicitors and still there when I came back, 20mins or so later!

...don't you think in doing that they could cause an accident by blocking 50% of that small road?

Imagine it's your theory test and the question is 'to park where you'd like would cause a hazard or obstruction to other drivers, do you a) park there anyway, b) park on the pavement or c) park somewhere else?

The assumption you can or should be able to park near to where you'd like to isn't a given.

If your parking causes an accident, then you've parked in the wrong place.

Is it that difficult to check behind your car before you abandon it to check your not taking two spaces. So many in such small group.

All taken between parking my car and walking to the entrance of the store.

Three in this picture.

Same shot from the front. Plus one more candidate.

This one I am looking down the dividing line.

And this one is self explanatory.

On a roll today. Apparently BT Openreach are exempt from parking on zig zags. Needed two crews though, one was having a smoke whilst another was drilling some holes. They were there well over an hour.

Another example of "Why should I bother parking on the end of the bay. I saw this driver abandon it there. In this seaside town parking is atrocious at the best of times. That and with some precise planned spaces between the others, just small enough so no one can park inbetween them but leaves them about 6ft to manouevour in and out themselves.

This bloke's a bit of a plum. It's an old shonky beemer not something decent. I should have parked my scooter in the gap.

At least he's not inconveniencing anyone else though. Unusual, but not selfish like most of the parking in this thread.
I have to agree, not doing any harm and even if it is an "old shonky beemer" it's obviously his P&J.
The number plate is *interesting*.
Even by magnifying it many times and entering a few possibles I keep getting vehicle not found etc.
Anybody?
Why are you bothered about what it is?
This is Pistonheads.
I have an interest in motor vehicles...rolleyes
Each to their own i guess

Has to be, surely. I can't believe anyone could possibly leave it like that thinking it was OK.

Reading instances of what people DO consider OK I'm not so sure any more

Am I being a princess or is it OK to be slightly irritated by people parking here?
