Without getting into a long winded debate, please put yourself in my shoes. I have paid a fee to PH to sell a car, my pictures have been re-used and the article which would not of helped my discussion with any potential buyer, I think that is unprofessional.

I have written a complaint to Pistonheads already, I am happy with the deposit taken, but the sale has not gone through yet but that is not the point of my frustration here.

Very odd indeed. Guy willing puts pictures of car on Pistonheads in the hope of selling car, sells car and then cops a moody because there are pictures of his car on Pistonheads.

Either sell your car on a website and accept that the pictures are out there in the public domain or sell it some other way. Some people, eh? rolleyes
Its pretty mental. Although it does reinforce popular stereotypes about Type R owners.

Thinking about it another way mate, with the amount of traffic PH gets (bearing in mind your selling an extremely niche car) I would have thought the extra (free?) publicity you’re getting would be extremely welcome!

So you've placed an add on pistonheads, it's received attention in the form of a positively worded feature that is really required to sell a niche model (a 35k(!!!) Honda), you've sold it as a consequence and now you're having a whinge?!

What is wrong with you?!

Interesting that the owner rated the article 10/10, I guess it was not so bad after all.

In fairness to the owner, the comment about the pricing being steep is not helpful to his sale. I can however see both sides of the argument.

Lovely car, it is a lot of cash, but if someone is willing to pay that then it's worth it to them. I'd love one, just for the noise alone!

The comment about looking like a moron in it is moronic in itself. It's a special edition limited car not some chav wagon with a stuck on spoiler?

I don't buy that, anyone looking to purchase a car as rare and special as this one will have their eyes wide open, I very much doubt the comments of a few strangers on here would in any way affect the sale.

If the poster of the comment is older than 18 he is indeed a moron, any younger then it is to be expected I guess.

Agreed on the article, PH should inform owners when they are going to post an article relating to their classifieds. This should also be stated in the T&C's.

This would easily find a space in my dream garage.

And I would have one over a 911, M3 etc. (ducks)

Not even worth half that, the owner must be taking the p!ss,but sure Honda fanboys will drool over it just because it's JDM yo.

Many european hot hatches (if this is considered a hot hatch) are much better.

Sure they are, if your metric is horsepower or torque.

Much better in what way? What do you define as better? Do people who buy this type of car care about the fact a Euro hatch is able to beat it in a straight line? Beat it around the ring? The likelihood is no. Those that spend 35k on a 2 cylinder Honda do so because they want something special. They are not your typical small man syndrome type who buy a hot hatch because it is the fastest.

Those that state that they would go and buy a used Porsche for the same money, ever consider that someone with 35k laying around doesn't already have one?

The sheer ignorance on PH (getting worse by the day) astounds me.

Thanks for the feedback here guys, we'll bear it in mind in future. Only reason (to me at least) it seemed a lot was because an £8K difference between Type R and RR appears to have widened and the price was more than it cost new. Suppose mileage and rarity contributes but it was an opinion and I did say 'appears'. FWIW I love the car.

Cheers,

Matt

Id have this over a Focus RS500 for similar money. Know its slower in a straight but reckon it would be more of occasion more often.

Maybe he doesn't want the prospective owner finding out that how over-valued it is before signing on the dotted line wink

Dunno what i'm going on about though, i've just spent £42k on a 'A' series hatchback!!

To be clear up front, I have no connection to the seller or the car in any way. I feel it necessary to say that before the inevitable PH flame war begins.

To the point of my post, I think this article is an utter disgrace and I think the seller has every right to be absolutely furious with it and Matt.

If you're going to make a story out of a car for sale on your site the LEAST you can do is paint it in a positive or neutral light.
To spend the first third of the article taking the piss out of the car's name, and the last third being disparaging about the price is in poor taste and ethically questionable.
Old time PHers are always harping on about the forum going downhill, I think they may be right.

For what is a part of a large publishing company PH really is an amateurish shambles sometimes. Criticising the asking price of a customer's car is very disrespectful, especially when the 'journalist' doing it plainly doesn't know what he's talking about.

I can see the sellers point - it should be stated that it can be used (maybe it does?!) or permission sought (which would however slow down feature publications). I might be mad but I think the price is fair. The FD2 was a very highly regarded car when it came out, this took things even further. It is uber rare, and only those that have actually driven an FD2 could begin to appreciate how good this could be. Euro hatches are different, R26.R aside (probably the closest rival to the FD2 or RR), nothing else connects or is as focused, hence the reference to the GT3 in the article (which they used an FD2 to chase down in the ECOTY 2007). I'd have one of these in my garage in a heartbeat.

Congrats on a (not suprisingly) quick sale
