The police used to run a few of these i remember.

If you can find one without the rear spoiler (was a factory delete option) its a fantastic Q Car. Have come close to buying one a few times, but each time something has come up.

Be tempted to get one of these for around town and leave the 996 turbo in the garage.

We had one of these when they came out. Great fun to drive, with turbo like boost when the vtec kicked in. It was pretty horrible though on motorways and long drives - they seemed to save weight by getting rid of all the sound deadening. Everything felt a bit "paper thin".

Still - great Q car for short blasts

Can't believe how reasonably priced genuine bits are for these. Genuine Honda clutch kit £135, oil filter £8, timing belt £30, air filter £15 etc

This will make a great project for someone, and one that will be self funding, or even might yield a tiny profit if done right.

Still got mine, love it to bits and it's about to get a tax disc after 8 months of SORN. Just spent some effort replacing the rear steel/rust brake lines for kunifer and she still makes all the right noises smile (bwarpy vtec noises)

This one has such a sad looking engine bay and I can't believe that even with a clutch it's going for £895!

Not true, and not sure where you read this. SOTW is just an interest piece, and the rules are no more firm than 'interesting cars that you can buy for under a grand'. Not 'The Best', and certainly not 'The Best in the UK'. If that were the case it'd be a far less interesting and fun read!

I think it's a great shed, FWIW.

Shed author may want to read this:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-06-18-edito...

This would be a good shed if genuine. Ad doesn't give me confidence though...

Great car.

Shame about needing a new clutch & cam belt - guess it would be double shed moeny if these were replaced.

I also hate adverts that state "no tyre kickers or time wasters" - because if you were either would you see your self as one? Up there with first to see will buy.

A guy in Bristol used to run one of these as a taxi when I was at uni there back in c2000 and it seemed like a bloody rocket ship doing about 70mph in second up Park Street.

because there is some clutch judder in first does not mean it will need a new clutch, it will probably last a long time ,unless it slips. a local clutch specialist charges £150 labour on any clutch labour only, plus price of parts ,so £300 ,not £500 will sort this.
Good choice for shed though at last something different ,I don't read the shed stories anymore they usually same old cars and boring but top marks this week

Like many recent SOTW's this is an interesting car but definitely not the best example of the breed available for the money. I seem to remember that SOTW was about finding the best car currently available for under a grand with tax and test in the UK. This is not it!
If you want fun with a hi-spec 90s Honda you need to pay. Minters go for 10K, to double even (ITR) and they are cherished until they die ... which probably will happen next century.

Good cars will sell. Why? Because there aren't many left.

Completely off-topic, but whos the clutch specialist that charges 150? My 328i needs one.
Sorry for the post hijack!

Edited that for you.
That's true and SOTW is a worse article for it

Comfortable??? Please

Over two years of owning one of these has ensured that I will spend the rest of my days with endless back pain. The ride is about a comfortable as going down a cobbled street in a shopping trolley.......
I think you must be pretty unlucky, one of the best riding "sporty" cars I had and I thought the seats were very comfortable on 3-4 hour motorway journeys. My only complaint was that the aircon was a bit weedy, suspect they used a small unit off a Civic or something to keep the weight down and power sapping the 8 ounces of torque it had under 4500rpm..

Had a new one of these in 1998 really good car if you needed some revving fun and space/comfort at the same time.

The writing on this is somewhat poor....Lightened to just over 1,300kg compared to the standard Accord?????
Surely to make it easy to compare a comparison of difference is required here to make the wait loss relevant.

Love these, ever since they came out so may need to get one as I think they are amazing cars, I have rarely heard anyone talk bad about these either.

For the price, you get alot of car to, £895 for this is quite a bargain.

If it said something like "lightened to just over 1300kg to the standard Accord at 1422kg it would mean something...as it is it doesn't mean much.

Sorry for being pedantic I cant help it today...will shut up now!

Not worth the gamble in my opinion. You would spend more that the purchase price to get cam belt , aux belts , tensioner , valve clearances , rear calipers greased (prob knackered)
