They are hardly the rotting corpses dumped in the humid Brunei jungle that many wanted people to actually believe!
As more emerged about Prince Jefri's exploits, it also became apparent not all cars were treated equally.

There absolutely are/were abandoned and rainforest reclaimed garages where the cars (some pretty unique and fairly special) were absolutely fked.

There were also though some garages that had been maintained, kept powered/dehumidified/etc. - and it seems the F1s at least were kept in those.

Pics please, I follow most of the threads on Brunei cars and have yet to see any of the above you describe.

Sheehan made a lot of claims, no doubt to scare off other potential buyers at the time, but no pics of such ever emerged

Not sure that's the Brunei collection - yes, there's a lot of LaF's and yes, he can buy them all, but I think that shot came from an event in Italy?....

The photo is attributed to the Sultan but so are many which are not. There's 2 F40s in disrepair, at least one of which is not his as it is a car from Dubai. I suspect this only goes to support Paul's point that there's a lot said about the state of the cars, by people who would benefit from the story, but no pictures supporting what is being said.

Yep, not in Brunei.

Must admit I'm not a massive fan of the rear of that version of the F1..... Longtail? Or just HDK?

Sods law, but I now can't find the article I remember - but that also aligned with remarks made by a colleague who worked in Brunei for a number of years and was held in very high regard.

There was at least one garage where the roof had fallen in, and lianas/jungle was very evidently eating through the cars contained - things like Merc S Classes rather than Ferrari and McLaren.

HDK means High Downforce Kit, basically the GTR wing and splitter on a road car.

The car in question however is an F1 GT, the road car version of the Longtail.

Most also think it is one collection where as in fact the Sultan has one vast one, and his brother Price Jeffri had another. Then there are newer princes with the latest supercars, still mainly lhd.

When it was found Prince Jeffri had been upto no good with state funds a number of years ago, the Sultan cut him off and his collection gathered dust as a result, which is the element which went into apparent decay as power to the a/c systems was shut down, so those pics may be of his facilities.

I saw one of the first cars to come back from Brunei and it was pretty untidy from memory. The paint needed serious attention. I think it needed a respray.

I can't recall the chassis number but it was yellow.

It was a pretty insipid yellow so it looks much better in white. Maybe not with the HDK though.

There was a PH'er who started life as an avid car spotter (Not Shmee, possibly Alex Penfold?) young kid who spent his time 10+ years ago running around London taking pics, almost certain he fell into the Middle East crowd and had exclusive access to the Sultan and two princes car collections, he shared pictures of the air hanger type buildings they where stored in, some looking like show rooms and some looking like 'Barn find' type conditions.
