Not sure about those, they look like something fitted to the bottom of an ASDA shopping trolley.

Not saying these are the best looking, but they deserve an honourable mention . . . as they're not "alloy" or steel:

The first OEM use of carbon reinforced composite wheels- on the Citroen SM, all the way back in 1972!

I don't think audi have produced better wheels since they stopped offering these as an option.

They are just the sort of wheel that suit all models, from a low range SE spec to the S4 etc

Neither of these were OEM,neither were they even an option.

Taken from the Ford accessory catalogue of the 80s/90s.

Agreed - they look deeply chav and likely to be fitted to a 2.0 TDI with S-LINE.

I have always liked subtle wheels, for example the old SL55 AMG ones

Wouldn't normally pay extra for wheels but like the wheels on the 159ti

Brera S

or Golf GTI (18" Monzas?)

Still love the wheels on the 1.9 205 GTi

and Fuchs(?) wheels on 911s too.

The E39 M5 wheels:

The dish gave them a real purposeful appearance yet the shadow chrome finish added an 'understated' look to it - suited the nature of the car perfectly...
To me they look fussy and the shadow chrome finish screams special offer at Halfords. Not for me.

Can't believe modern Audi, VW or SEAT wheels are being posted. I think VW and their offshoots have been consistently st at designing wheels for years. Look at the state of these FFS:

Skoda Wolfrace specials:

If you like your SL to look like an old man's car. Horrible, unimaginative wheels; insipid and twee. The do not suit the big German at all.

Most standard wheels look crap. Aftermarket wheels almost always look better than standard wheels.

For added beard knowledge, the owner of that car,at the time, was the driving force in getting

those replica wheels made.

I think 20 sets were made.

They sold out easily.

Always liked Rover BRM wheels. Think some of the last 45s had them too.

Another vote for Campagnolo "coffin spokes".
I also nominate Lotus "wobbly webs"...

I'm suprised AMG monoblocks haven't shown up more here - pretty much my favourite OEM style of all time. Wish they came in 19"!

As for aftermarket alloys, these split variants of the monoblock design by OZ can look utterly spectacular on the right vehicle.
