pathetic whip lash claims

My OH's dad has it right, his S-Class went into the shop for repairs after a prang, they gave him a tatty old A-class... he was perfectly happy with that for 3 weeks despite being a massive step down.
The "entitled" generation gap. I'm with your OH's dad. It's a car. Stuff happens. Providing they give me something servicable, not reeking of smoke then I'm happy. Like for like is a self satisfied mugs game.

My father was hit at 50mph about three months ago by a woman going over a red light.
She currently has a claim in for whiplash even though it was here fault and she crashed into my fathers car.
That and the fact she was walking about after the accident right as reign.
No doubt she'll get a £2k payoff

He could fit his golf bats in it. Thats all that mattered. I really can't see why they should fork out such high fees on a short term rental of something that is equal stature.... its only temporary for god sake you aren't going to miss out on anything! Plus everyone knows rental cars are the fastest cars....
Quite. Anyhow, Mk1 and 2 A class are quite good fun for a small car.myvision said:
But why should he have to drive a lesser model for something that is completely not his fault? He should be put into the same spec.
Why?Is his life somehow severely impacted by having a 1.6 Focus for a few weeks instead of a Focus ST?
Is this really the mentality? fk everyone else's premiums, I'm entitled to it?

One small point in her defence is that whiplash isn't always apparent right away. I had it after a pretty hefty crash several years ago and didn't start feeling it until the next day

Thought i'd post a rant about whiplash and how annoying people are with it. I was in an accident about 3 weeks ago and ended up going into the back of someone at around 10-15 mph. At the time all out all friendly and not a single injury apart from my pride.
Two weeks later i get a letter from one of these no win no fee boll** companies saying one of the passengers is claiming whiplash injuries. I think to myself ok one isn't too bad it must be genuine. I had a letter through last night from the same law firm saying that the driver is putting one in. All i'm thinking now is how stupidly high my claim is going to be with the repairs to my car, his car (very little a new bumper was my guess) and now all these fking bull st whiplash claims. The worse thing about it is there were 5 people in the car so i'm expecting 5 claims to come through.
So annoyed right now.
Before it comes i know it was my own fault for going into the back of them but it genuinely couldn't be helped.
I know how you feel, i went into the back of somone at under 5 MPH (clutch ratchet snapped whilst stationary in gear at a roundabout) the car stalled but jumped forwaed 2 or 3 feet whilst doing so, result, a wiplash claim and my useless insurance company paid out 13 fooking grand !!Two weeks later i get a letter from one of these no win no fee boll** companies saying one of the passengers is claiming whiplash injuries. I went ape at em but they just said it was cheaper to pay out than fight it, jesus fooking christ 13 grand can't buy a lot of solicitors fees nowdays if it's cheaper to just pay out.

I've been harassed by these companies for months wanting me to claim damages for an accident. The accident someone cut in and took my wing mirror off! I've told every one of them to ps off I'm on a database somewhere so it's a free for all!
My Mum got them a lot for an accident in her vehical 4 years ago ( it got hit by a driverless bus), she wasn't even in the car but it was in her name so she got all the calls, pretty poor form harrising a diabled OAP, when i say harrasing she was getting 4 or 5 calls a week for 3 months.Vaud said:

Good point, well made. The sheer indignity of having to drive a perfectly adequate car for a few days would indeed be a kick in the arse for many people.Hopefully the genocide in Syria will keep people's minds focused elsewhere whilst this poor lamb slums it in a Focus.

Spot on. This is entirely the 'entitlement' mentality which completely hamstrings our society.
I had someone go into the back of me at a red light, I was the first in the line and he came up behind doing his best to stop, but didn't quite manage it. Maybe hit at around 10mph? Not entirely sure but it was enough of an impact for both of us in the car to think it was going to be a mess when we got out.
One of the first things the guy said was "I thought you were going to go through the amber light", despite the fact I had enough time to stop, change from 3rd to 1st gear, look in the rear view mirror and let out a swear word when I saw him coming.
His extended family (who were in another car) then proceeded to block the road by pulling up next to my car (two lanes, one way) and proceeded to take pictures of everything (fair enough, my friend was doing the same) while I spoke to the driver. I think in total there were eight of them milling around IIRC. We decided not to go through insurance as it was only paintwork damage to both cars.
Fortunately, no whiplash claim of any sort was made by anyone

Sorry, doesn't hold water for me. If someone else's crapness has damaged my car then I expect a similar car to mine whilst mine is repaired.
You expect similar.I expect adequate.
I expect the car to have similar number of seats. I expect it to be clean and not stink of smoke/dog. I expect it to be reliable.
I have an A6. I would be happy with, for a few weeks - a KIA, a 1 series, Seat, a Skoda, a Golf, a Passat, an A3/4. Or a Mondeo, etc...
But I don't expect like for like. Call me a liberal wishy washy hippy if you like.

Nice.
Anyway, I was rear-ended at about 6 or 7 mph whilst stopped at traffic lights, two years ago.
My neck and right forearm was sore for a couple of days but got better, so didn't claim for that but as I am disabled in my right leg and hip-joint. That did hurt like billy-o for weeks after, so I claimed for that. As it took 13 months to source parts for my JDM import, the settlement cheque for £6k didn't arrive until the claim and all expenses were settled.

I quite agree on the hire car thing. I was told "unfortunately we can't give you a car that is the equivalent to yours", my response was "as long as its reliable, gets me to work and back I really don't care what it is" I had a Ford Focus for a couple of days last week whilst the exhaust was being made and have a Kia Cee'd Estate for a few this week whilst the rear bumper was being done. I'd have been happy with a 107 to be honest.

Why "couldn't it be helped"??Now this whiplash thing. I removed the headlight of a car, from behind, as I overtook it and it turned in front of me. The impact was actually quite low. I suspect that a mechanical engineer, with access to finite element analysis software and the car companies data, could have shown that the minor damage to my car, (although written off) and the point of impact on the other car, could not cause much of anything. But of course there was a claim. And of course my insurance company paid up. And my insurance premium went down, because people learn from mistakes and apparently I'd be less likely to crash again. Soon, all cars will have data recorders that record the shock at impact, and that data will be used to refute claims.
