£5k full size petrol 4x4. Odds that it'll be a money pit?
Discussion
I personally couldn't live with a high mileage potential money pit , so if I really wanted a big 4x4 type thing I'd be considering that ugly 4x4 lexus the name of which escapes me just now. Presumably it's as reliable as all lexuses tend to be. Luxurious comfort as well, I suspect.
Not my area of interest really though. Just dropping it off as an idea on my way past.

A mate of mine had one & the only thing I remember about it was that the fuel consumption was horrific - even for a petrol 4x4.Not my area of interest really though. Just dropping it off as an idea on my way past.

I need to be able to tow up to 2 tonnes, need a competent 4 wheel drive (not offroad, but snow on road in peak district-type of competence. I commute in all other weathers on a motorcycle. i10 is decidedly OFF the list.

Quite rare but the Nissan Pathfinder does occasionally come in a petrol flavour.
I don't know much about the engine, I have the diesel version, bulletproof so far

Don't, they are poorly built money pitsSeeker UK said:
Good call. I had one of these for a while. It needed revving to make swift progress, but it was a pleasant, willing engine. Also, the X-Trail felt a lot more nimble and fun to drive than some more agricultural 4x4s. 30 mpg was possible on a run too. Nice shed that didn't look too obsolete.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
