On the super unleaded question, I read that if you car doesn't have to run on it - its advised to use it every fourth tank, as there are detergents & additives that clean your injectors & other engine parts.
With fast Audis I can't help think less is more - as the current S1, S3 & S4 all get 4 star or better reviews but the RS models aren't rated as highly (harsh ride, the engine is too heavy, lack of handling balance).

I'd much rather put £30k on a C6 model RS, just about as much fun without worrying too much about anything else. But then again £30k on the new S3 is a more likely proposition, keeping the options modest of course!
I don't understand why people would spend £100k on a Range Rover. The RS6 will be better built, faster, better on fuel, cheaper to service and hold residual higher. I'll stick with my ~£30k Audis for now, unless that lottery win comes in.

If the manual or fuel flap quotes 2 octanes/RONS/Cetanes then it'll be mapped to run on the higher to give full performance. Fuel additives is a whole different issue which could run to a 100 page thread on its own - basically if it's sold on a forecourt it will be fine. I personally use branded fuel as local to me it seems more consistent blend.
Be interested to hear from Chris what it says inside the fuel flap?
Don't understand the negative comments about weight. Its only real rival is a large SUV like the Cayenne Turbo, which weighs several hundred kg more. The non-4WD E63 AMG is only about 50kg less, which is imperceptible - unlike the interior quality... And despite having more equipment, but less consumption/co2 emissions, it also weighs less than the model it replaces. So, well done Audi?

Audi have been testing a biturbo V6 with a reported 550bhp output so hopefully this will end up in the next RS4 which should make it far more flexible for every day driving. Although it will probably be 550 in the RS6 and detuned to 4 something for the RS4

Monkey echoes my sentiments about Audis in the first part of the article. I always feel like an Audi is a good solid thing which would give me enough amusement much of the time . . . but I'd always be wondering about the fun I could be having in a BMW.
It wasn't quite the same compromise as, ultimately, I loved my Mk2 Golf GTI but it sums it up in a similar way. The Golf was the sensible option as I'd set out to buy a 205 GTI.
Edit: Forgot to mention I like the bit about speccing Ceramics. 'Ah, sir, I see you've gone for the Ceramics, very discerning.' 'Oh, that? No, the car just spends a lot of time parked up.'

You seem to have missed the whole point of cars like these. The fact that they are non descript yet very fast and easy to drive are precisely why so many people like them. I can't see the point in having so much power in a big estate car when a 535d Touring has all the performance you realisticly need on the road, especially whith a family in the car and dog in the boot but I can still see the attraction.

Note I am not a diesel fan, prefer petrol engines, but in smaller, sportier handling cars.
The RS6 has the SAME amount of torque as the Alpina on your link but a heck of a lot more power and a much better rev range. You wouldn't need to bounce it off the limiter, do you have a clue about cars, diesels are torquey becuase of turbo charging, just like petrol turbos.Of course you can tell from the previous paragraph I'd rather have one of these

In order to get the look of the Aussie car, Chris, you just need a tin of Plastidip. Its a quick spray on rubber solution which just peels off when you no longer want it, that way you get the look you want and its 100% reversible without any fear of damaging the paint, invalidating your warranty or annoying Audi (any more than previously).....................plus it will look superb!!
