K11 micra 1.0. Even with so little power a 7300 RPM redline makes it feel so fast! Preferably a base spec model with no power steering so you really appreciate what you've got.
agree but think the 1.0 is just a bit too slow to live with, the 1.3 makes things tolerable.Agreed with the 1.3 comment, the 998cc was fine around town, but I imagine with a little bit more given by the 1.3 it would get along nicely. Had a go in one stripped out for autotesting and it was a blast
MR2 Mk3 as a daily for me. At 140-ish bhp/tonne it's not exactly underpowered but I wouldn't want to go much lower. Have run Mk1 MX5 & 8v Golf GTI in the past as daily drivers and didn't die.
My Mum had an early 2000's Micra with some kind of hair dryer mounted in the engine bay. As long as you selected full-throttle and didn't lift at any point it was actually possible to make safe progress.

The 1.3 was only available on the sporty models though! But I would agree really. Had a base 1.0 when my fiesta was in for a couple of bits and it made the ford feel properly luxurious! The micra did feel a but unsettled above 80. But it's transport that's reliable. Which is worth a lot really.JakeT said:

Surely depends on what you do on a daily basis, sometimes our C1 is enough.
My personal opinion of course but I gas a C1 as a hire car a year ago and I really thought it would be a fun nippy motor - sadly it was exactly what is wrong with motoring today; ugly, badly made, slow but full of stupid features like daytime running lights. One of the worst cars I have ever driven.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
