"After many hours of endurance testing, B&O have developed a race-homologated system to bring the M4 closer to its motorsports heritage. The B&O Superleggera Sound System. BMW ///M, where motorsport knowledge & technology transfers are a thing of the past." laugh

I too will be intrigued to see what they do...

Yes they are contradicting themselves now, as they said they won't be making a CSL equivalent.

Either way a paired back model, lighter wheels, bigger brakes, more focused suspension, more power, more noise (not through the speakers :P), light weight recaros, sound deadening removal etc...

Don't need bigger brakes, I'm sure the current optional ones (carbon ceramic) will be more than up for the job.

It was, however, a complete sales disaster for bmw though.... Suggests the market for this is very small, sadly.
But that was before car sizes exploded and they all lost "steering feel" (whatever it is). I’d say the market is larger now than it was back then but yes... still very small.
It wasn't though, we might look back through rose tinted specs but I still recall the e46 being called a heffer and people complaining back then how a focus was enormous compared to the escort it replaced etc.

The CSL was well received by critics at the time but the price made people question value for money, I don't think anyone expected it to become the cult classic it is now, and with that in mind I'm pretty sure BMW inflated the cost of the GTS in apprehension of collectors wanting to snap them up. These types of cars don't do much for BMWs bottom line, it's the community that builds around them and I dare say they got it right with the GTS again by ensuring it was priced steeply enough to become exotica.

It'll be interesting to see how BMW approaches this one (if it is a GTS) because 'artificially manufacturing' cults is no small feat!

The car (e46 M3 CSl) was around £60k ten years ago needing a brake upgrade from the start and no real performance gain on the stock car so this would have put me off like many others. I am sure someone will know better but I think they initially announced a low initial number of cars (sold them all) and then lots more became available which was very naughty indeed.
