Don't need rod bolts for 300lb-ft. You can have standard internals, FMIC, Exhaust, Hybird and run 300/300 with no issues. Yes some have gone pop years ago but nothing recently
I didn't fit them, they were done with everything else. The RS Tuning rolling road gumpf says 311lb-ft and 275bhp.I do laugh at all the people who say "Lol get an R26 and fit suspension/exhaust/seats/strip it etc"
That's fine......and it'll probably be quicker then an .R......but it's not the point.
As would a Ecoboosted Fiesta, tuned to the hilt, that'd be faster than standard Fiesta ST.
The point is, you buy this car, from factory, as is. That's a mental concept when you think about it, it's got all the trick mods from standard.
Still prefer an Elise on a B road though.

You're 100% right that it is a brilliant thing you can buy a factory R26R, my point is it's also brilliant you can buy eight tenths of the experience second hand in the form of a tuned R26 for buttons, and spend the rest on coke and hookers. That's fine......and it'll probably be quicker then an .R......but it's not the point.

You're paying for the last 2 10ths, I also have an EVO 6 RS woth 450bhp, that's a "shopping car" too until you get to the last 2 10ths, and then it's MENTAL!And ignore the fact that you'd be better off selling the parts on the R26 rather than trying to sell the car when you've had enough of it!

One of my biggest motoring regrets is not buying one of these new…...
mine too. missus talked me out of it because of the rear seats - which I used probably twice then in 5 year on the brand new R26 i got instead!Traded the R26 in for 6k from 20k new, would have £14k more and (even) more fun than the brilliant R26 had I held the line. It was a close run thing, but there were also no reviews or test drives out at the time and I worried also (falsely) that as a 100 mile a day commuting car it would have a bone hard ride, and be deafening.
I have a Clio Trophy now (well I don't, i bought it 6 weeks ago and the dealer is still fixing it - but another much longer story..), but when I'm done in enjoying that there is at the moment literally no other car I want to own again more. [EDIT: relative to likely budget of up to £50k!]
No matter what other cars I have on the drive I always want a crazy nutter Renaultsport there for the track, and for relatively worry-free fun (in terms of things that could go wrong - i mean, they break of course, but don't cost much relative to what else you might get instead).
I WILL OWN ONE OF THESE ONEDAY!!

Had one for 5 years - superb, cheap to run, faultless (despite many track miles), ticked many bucket-list items (spa, col, etc) and sold on for a great price.
Sold earlier this year because it felt like the ideal time to move on (fancy a caterham next tbh). A car i certainly enjoyed and would recommend, but keep forever, nah, not quite that special IMO.

They are amazing things to drive considering the starting point, but the lack of rears seats puts it up against competition against which it can't really compete, IMO.
Such as?ETA: Although actually, the Ginetta is a bit more expensive than I remember it being, so perhaps that's unfair on the Renault.

A true hero car. Anyone talking down about it has never driven one. As others have said, we (as piston heads) should be applauding Renault and not hating. It's fantastic, it's holding it's value, it will be a future classic (perhaps a little appreciation) for those garage queens and it's a real hoot to drive if you're brave enough to use it as a daily!
