Well maybe not for all, but for me at least half the fun is having an engine that makes me smile. I dont need 300hp to do this, just something that revs cleanly and doesn't fall off a cliff at 6000 rpm. Agreed there are comprises but there are also £1500 MX5's and MR2's for sale.

Do you want to argue that an Mx5 isn't a sports car and a 330d is? Or shall we get back to a diesel saloon being a better drivers car than a Boxster?I think everything that can be said in this thread has been. If numbers are your thing there is no point in anyone trying to convince you otherwise. I can't think of anything more dull than a heavy barge with a monster engine, but each to their own.

God know why people are discussing petrol sports cars in a diesel sports car thread?I think everything that can be said in this thread has been. If numbers are your thing there is no point in anyone trying to convince you otherwise. I can't think of anything more dull than a heavy barge with a monster engine, but each to their own.

Maybe because most cars still tend to also have petrol versions ?
But the comments have no relevance to the OP question. Its strictly a diesel thread - if there is a sporty diesel or not, we all know there are many many many petrol sports cars so point out hey you know what there is a petrol option....
