Sorry .... doesn't float my boat at all. The Phantom on the other hand is sublime.

Mostly I think this due to the absence of a "proper". RR radiator she'll on the Ghost. Just doesn't look like a real RR without one. Only adds to the thought that it's really a 7 series in drag.

Shame on those of you dissing that Bentley R-type Continental. That's a 60 year old car, and achingly beautiful.

''Shame on those of you dissing that Bentley R-type Continental. That's a 60 year old car, and achingly beautiful''.......Exactly. Built in the days when the lower orders like the Mondeo driving PH's here knew their place.

I'll say it again, with no shame. I do not like that car at all. It's 60 years old. I compare it to a woman - Why would I want something that in its day may have been considered beautiful but has now been superseded by a much younger, hotter model? The performance, safety features, and general feeling of isolation (important in a Rolls) in the newer Rolls can quantifiably be measured and judged an improvement. That old car is just that - outdated, appealing to a certain age demographic of which I am definitely not a part of.

Newer car every time.

Everyone talking about the fact that this is all a bit new-money seems to forget that in the late 60's/70's, RR sold plenty of Shadows to rock stars and the like. It is an unfortunate fact but old-money folk don't spend their wares, whereas new money does and likes to be a bit flash.

Credit to RR though for staying true to the Brand in refusing to talk performance statistics, not offering rev-counters and absolutely not offering a 'sport' mode. Go and visit the factory and you will see that they do make them like they used to.

Regards,

MyCC.

Mulsanne and Ghost are very different takes on a quarter mill luxury car and I don't think they can be compared.
Just out of interest why are they incomparable?

Both cars have very different personalities to suit their respective brands. The Rolls is virtually silent and very smooth riding, whereas the Bentley is more vocal and busy when in motion.

So by your logic a modern painting is better than a Grand Master?
A modern hatch will have more ability all round than that Bentley - but does not make it ugly or even define it.It is about character, soul and history. It is a living breathing museum on wheels.Oh and i'm def not one of those " aye e bah gum lad t' cars were t' much better in t' my day lad"
And there's plenty of good quality mature chedder out there!

which one has mirrored picnic tables and holds the most hookers?
Do we count the boot, when working out the possible density of hookers per car?
