BMW 640 M Sport.

Not sure if I'd pick the Cab or the Grand Coupe though.
I went for a cab! (Carbon black and Ivory, +lots of extras) getting over 600 miles to a tank, 42mpg+
Fantastic place to sit! I love it! Just got a set of oem 2nd hand winter wheels with tyres for £600

My shortlist would be a V8 6 series with lots of doors, Quattroporte or RS6.

Made my choice a couple of months ago - my DD choice for all weather duty is:

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit EcoDiesel.

Fabulous it is. Always been a LR / RR fan but this is nice too.
Did you see the Moose Test before buying it?

Obviously from what I drive I don't worry much about safety features... But just thought I would bring it to your attention.

PS... I like jeeps so not having ago at you for your choice.

How many entirely bespoke engines do people think the M Division have used over the years?

A 458 Speciale would do me just fine for daily use.

V6S F type coupe. Plenty quick enough, looks awesome and they crack high 20's mpg seemingly quite easily.

Realistic (apart from the hideous paint scheme):

If I borrowed up to my eyeballs:

Totally un-realistic:

If someone else was paying: RS6.

Most likely would be a Fiesta ST-3.

Best car money no object brand new DD has got to be, IMO, Range Rover 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography.

Man maths calculates that a 2014 Fiat Panda DD will leave enough over for something interesting for the weekend, perhaps a choice from Maserati or TVR's back catalogue smile

Abarth 695 Biposto, Megane 275 Trophy or BMW i3.

I do around 4000 miles a year and a lot around town.

with whistles and bell on.

I see the RR arguments, but i love the notion that you're in family sensible car and have the ability to do close to 200mph if you feel the need.

I'd love the Black Baron. What a symphony of evil, unfortunately its a 2010 car.

If I had to sell my car and buy a car built new in 2014 it would be an easy choice.

Requirements:
It has to be at least a 2+2 (sometimes I carry more than one other person around)
It has to be able to take a reasonable amount of luggage
It has to be RWD
It has to be an automatic
It has to be fast
It has to be as good on the drag strip (run low 13's/high 12's and be consistent) because I would want to continue racing
It has to have an MP3 player (or the ability to add one), cruise control, Air con/climate control and comfy seats

So other than some German cars that brings me back to a later version of what I currently own:

It meets and exceeds all of my requirements and it also offers:
Hot hatch servicing costs
The fuel economy will be around 20mpg day to day for me (similar to mine now)
£230 year VED (PLG tax band)
Reasonable insurance; my heavily modified 2006 GT came in at £420 this year for 10,000 miles per year average (30y/o, car on drive, no points, no fault accidents, full legal cover, courtesy car, all the usual refinements)

I honestly can't think of a better daily driver (for me anyway) smile

640d Gran Coupe I think. Probably one of the best designs on the market, taken the mantle from the W219 CLS as the most elegant 'saloon' around.
