1. Go to B&Q buy 25/50/100m of 8ml power cable and 3 pin UK plug.

2. Drill 10ml hole through garage wall.

3. Feed cable through hole.

4. Strip back sheath on both ends exposing naked wires.

5. Attach wire outside to plug.

6. Wrap exposed wires inside garage to metal handle on the inside of door.

7. Plug in to nearest socket available.

8. Go indoors stick on TV, open fine whiskey light good cigar and relax.

Really sorry to hear this OP.

I'd get some security lights up pronto as a simple, quick deterrent.

Scrub that reading below.

Hope the bds get caught sometime soon frown

Forensics have just left.

1. Intruders came over a 7 foot brick wall and then forced a security light sensor off the wall. Also, they pulled a couple of black pipes from the watering system off the brickwork. Maybe they thought it was some sort of security light cable?

2. They have used gloves to pull back the metal shutter and then opened the door via the control panel on the wall (fingerprint powder confirms).

Will they come back?
Were they looking for the car keys?

So many concerns......................................

I read stories similar to our breakin in our local paper, and think 'what a dreadful thing to experience', and I was right, it makes me feel very sick/violated.

The only security measure missing is security cameras, so that is an easy 'fix' ASAP.

The alarm should have been activated and is it linked to police via "Red Care" with ADT, so that also needs sorting ASAP.

Thank for your comments/support. Much appreciated.

Stay safe.

Wouldn't rule it out. frown
Police should have given advice/guidance?

Possibly. Don't forget keyless ignition system/OBD port.

Police should have given advice/guidance? No guidance given so far.

Noted (thank you for the reminder).

This 'event' will not deter me from enjoying my garage, just tainted it for a while, and has made me aware of the security shortfalls we have.

Like sandpeople, they'll be back and in greater numbers.

However read greater numbers as a white van.

This happened to the missus's parents, scrote broke in once, took a couple of things but nothing major, a month later came back with a van.

Get a lot of security installed ASAP!

You can't comprehend the things that go on in a junkies head, i had my workshop broken into a few months back, they had approx 6 hours to take whatever they wanted but all they took was an empty toolbox (10 Yr old halfords mini top box roller painted NATO green) and a tin of satin black spray paint ??? left the code readers, tools, car keys, even the £14 in loose change on the desk, WTF were they thinking? nothing obv.

It was the same when my garage got broken into, they didn't touch the bikes or expensive tools etc, just took a load of old garden tools.

I hope you've got your alarm etc sorted, it not going off sounds worrying.
