I'm currently looking at changing my S8 for either a MX5, Saab diesel estate or a EV...

feels like I've given up on cars...

I enjoyed driving an old mark 1 Kia Picanto courtesy car a few years back.
It was tinny but analogue. I could feel and hear everything.
Yes! I feel I have to admit to secretly desiring the Picanto I had as a courtesy car a few years back. While my C55 was in having a few bits done. So much fun, keeping the momentum going, it was like a little sewing machine.

Felt quite sad giving it back, when I picked my car up frown
I'm also a fan of the Kia picanto, again after having it as a courtesy car. It was just "fun".
I'll be pushing my eldest son toward one as his first car in a few years.

I enjoy driving my Mercedes Sprinter van and my 330 diesel auto (remapped obviously!) more than my heavily modified Monaro. The van’s slow, steady and comfortable and the BMW’s easy, quiet and comfortable, and no-one takes any notice of either. I’ll hand my PH card in later! getmecoat

My son hates driving.
So to try to get his confidence up, whenever he works a shift at the local hostelry, I sit with him driving down, and then race the little red ‘05 Fiesta back.
If the model had a name, it would be “The Basic Edition”......but I quite enjoy it!

I killed a little green Fiat Uno between Dublin and Cork doing that. Gearbox ruined, wouldn't go into gear without double declutching and getting the revs just so in the end. All synchros knackered.

I still feel guilty about that.

I've just bought a car that many on here would consider to be very very dull - an Audi A5 Quattro 2.0 TDi.
I would have castigated anyone saying this up to the day I got mine but it is a beautiful car in every sense
I like driving it as much as my R8 (but in a different way)

I once bought a Prius on purpose and drove it for a year, and it was one of the best cars I ever owned.

I sold a RenaultSport Megane 275 Cup S, bought a Nissan Juke Nismo RS and prefer it. The shame is too much to bear.

I drive a Qashqai and it’s not one of the best cars I’ve owned. But it is one of the most reliable, and I sort of respect it for that

I quite fancy a heavy, thirsty, slightly ostentatious 4 x 4.

A Landcruiser with steel bumpers will do just fine.

Mk2 Cortina in alpina Green 1.3 deluxe. Completely standard car and I loved it.
Fitted it with the heavy duty brackets to carry four Cibie spotlights with the white covers.
The poor old dynamo couldn't keep up with all four on and the wiring got hot as there were no relays.
I thought it looked brilliant...

My TVR Griffith owned for 10 years was a lovely looking car but in reality terrible. Acceleration felt like re-entry in a space shuttle and a hot start problem which meant buying petrol on a warm day was a lottery about whether you could get off the forecourt
Vauxhall zafira in battleship grey is in contrast super comfortable, reliable Labrador shifter and so anonymous that it could be the worlds best getaway car
Confession over!

I just got my daughter a 2005 Yaris to learn to drive in. I’m shocked by how good it is.

I can't tell the difference between FWD, RWD & 4WD

& given the choice between Porsches & a range rover, I normally take the asmatic Fiat 500.
