RE: Revised Focus ST prices announced

Driving experience is down to personal opinion to a degree, but the Focus usually seems to trump the Golf in reviews, even before this update.
Hmm, pre-MK7 maybe, but every recent comparison I've read seems to suggest the GTI is a better drive. The words "torque steer" still seem to crop up too often where the ST is concerned.http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/2015-volks...

Oh come on! Show me one review that gives the Focus anything less than 4/5. In fact you probably have to go back to the early 90s and the Escort GTI to find a review that doesn't rate a fast Ford as very good.http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/2015-volks...
If you want the ultimate driver's hot hatch at the expense of everyday usability get the Renaultsport Megane.
If you've got a big budget get the Golf R.
If you've got a massive budget get the Merc A45
If badge is everything get the Audi S3
If you want to lease get the Golf R or maybe the M135i
If you're spending your own money and plan to keep the car a long time get a Kia C'eed GT with the kitchen sink and a 7 year warranty for under £19k from a broker.
If you want small and fun get the Fiesta ST
But, if you want the best overall package and don't choose to ignore price like some of the dipstick journalists then the Focus ST wins. If it doesn't have enough badge for you or you genuinely don't like the looks then fine. But only someone who is being deliberately argumentative will argue that the Focus is not a terrific drive, terrific value and a terrific car overall.

Eh? At what point did I say it wasn't a good car? I'm sure it's a very good car, and on the face of it it looks like very good value for money (though I'd be interested to know what the broker prices do to the residuals). If you re-read what I actually said you'll find I suggested the current GTI was in most cases reviewed as a better drive than the ST. Can you find a comparison that suggests otherwise?andrewparker said:

http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/volkswagen/golf-gti/verdictRead the conclusion at the end. It's just another Golf. It might be a good car, in fact, it is a very good car, but it's just too boring.

Evo reckons the Focus St has a "more playful and dynamic character than the Golf".

I do like the new grey colour but does it still have that unsightly gap between the bonnet and front bumper?
No, we resolved that.I have owned a MK3 Focus ST-3 since Sept. 2012, done a shade over 20K miles and I wouldn't recommend one to anyone. The reason: dealers. An absolute shambles, in my experience. They can't even get basic servicing right, and when you have an issue they don't care, lie to you, mis-diagnose, and fail to apologise when this is pointed out to them.

275bhp, Ford Warranty intact, no extra on insurance. £1250.
Do these respond that badly to tuning?275bhp, Ford Warranty intact, no extra on insurance. £1250.
£1250 for 25bhp is pathetic.
