Cars that crackle, pop on overun?
Discussion
I saw a new Lamborghini Huracan on the King's Road the other day. The driver was being a wazock, waiting to let the cars in front stretch a gap adn then giving it real beans for fifty yards.... It sounded brilliant though. Properly made my day, sad as that makes me! LOTS of loud bangs
We put a sequential gearbox in a 1967 Alfa Sprint GT running a mapped ignition system and 45s on a Twinspark engine. At first we used a simple ignition cut to allow full throttle upshifts while matching the revs.
Of course the carbs kept throwing fuel in regardless so we got a four foot flame out of the tailpipe on every upshift which looked brilliant but mindful of potential short exhaust life and bore-wash we swapped the car to fuel injection so we could cut the fuel too.

Most TVRs. My Sagaris certainly did when it was standard, but less so when I had the Racing Green FFF2 head and Syvecs ECU fitted as the Syvecs is just so more efficient at fuelling than the standard ECU, so less wasted fuel to explode on the overrun.
As mentioned in that other thread, one of the 8 selectable maps on my Syvecs does add the pops & bangs back with a vengeance, but I rarely use it.

My Fiesta ST185 (Mountune) used to pop and crackle on the overrun - sounded bloody fantastic for a small engine.
The Megane 250 pops as standard once it's hot enough. Get a downshift right and you'll be congratulated by a loud pop/bang. Combined with the wooshing sound from the exhaust it gets addictive!

The R56 certainly did. Especially so with the JCW exhaust! Pretty sure the F56 does, too.
R56 S did a lot from standard then they changed the Map on them. I'm guessing so the JCW popped more. My R56 GP loved to pop and bang at any chance ! F56 do as well even the coopers now and again.
To be fair you can get R50 Ones and Coopers to pop with some hard driving

Pretty much anything on carbs or with a badly calibrated fuel injection system will.
This^^^^In fact, most manufacturers of production roadcaes tune it out deliberately as only people like us would enjoy it and the below-average man in the street would start freaking out and thinking the car was breaking down.
For cars with mappable ECU's you can ask the mapper to put pops and bangs back in, on the overrun.
