What a muppet you'd feel as a billionaire turning up to be a Ferrari test driver for the day with all the crew standing around waiting for you and your cloth feet to do their thing.

"hello again sir, welcome. Looking forward to today's 'programme'?"

"Why yes, I hope I can contribute to the development of new and better Ferraris"

"I'm sure you can sir, and thanks so much for your help so far. I remember your lap time of 5:20 at Monza last month. Beat your personal best by over 15 seconds!"

"It was a one-off, that's for sure!"

"Quite. Now, what are your first thoughts on the roll-oversteer in tightening-radius high speed corners?"

"What, oh, err, awful? No, sorry, great! Yes, great!"

"...?"

Umm, about 5? 50? 500?"

"That's excellent sir, let me write that down for the boys back at base."

Jesus, what a Dairylea Cringeable state of affairs for all concerned.

What was the last genuinely desirable flagship road car for adult motorists that Ferrari produced?

Do we have to go all the way back to the 550 Maranello?

That's probably the last one that wasn't naff.

The FF and F12 are pretty fruity, but too overstyled to be for 'adult motorists' more than for show-offs.

Most won't get anywhere near anyone at all as, it is a continuation of Ferrari's 'track research' via customer, and looked after by Ferrari inbetween track days.
Judging by last season's performance it was the F1 team that should have been asking for the public's development help - not the road car division.

Ferrari thread.................check

Being criticised for failing to demonstrate blind devotion to all things Ferrari..........check.

Once again Pistonheads delivers.
It's not blind devotion , the thing is fkin mental if it had any other badge on it people would be creaming themselves but due to its prancing horse and this being pistonheads a place where people go out of there way to hate cars / brands we get the predictable stting up of the release of a a very desirable machine *yawn*
Actually Busa GTA, I don't go out of my way to hate cars/brands, and I happen to think the Ferrari 458 (the standard one, not the "Speciale") is a very well resolved, understated yet striking design. The LaFerrari, aside from its (in my entirely subjective opinion) onanistic name (where the hell do they go with the name for the next ultimate Ferrari), is, to my mind, not an attractive design. If I were lucky enough to have the flipping great wadges of cash (a prize for anyone spotting the cultural reference) needed to buy a hypercar, the looks of the thing would be an important part of the decision. Not everyone thinks that way, fine - I respect that, and vive la difference - I am right with Voltaire on that one. What yanks my chain is people who have an issue with me expressing my different opinion.

They have been selling ok, so desirable by those who can afford them.

I'm not a Ferrari fan, but for a V12 I'd have to go all the way back to the Daytona. (for a V8, it's the 355 - all totally subjective, of course)

Even in the '80s Ferraris were thought of as cars for showoffs, I don't think that's a new thing for them.

For me the last desirable Ferrari had been the 456, I just never liked the look of the 550 or in fact any of the cars since then, but I've seen a few 458s on the road and I think they look spectacular. Also I seem to be one of the relatively few on here who thinks LaFerrari looks awesome and the FxxK looks like a children's poster car (which I regard as a good quality in a supercar). The Fxxk looks as subtle as its name but damn, I think even Luke Skywalker would be having wet dreams about that car.

I was at the unveiling and the car sounds like F1 cars of old.... truly incredible noise and I think it actually looks even better "in the flesh"

Not sure I'd put my cash into one (which is just as well since I'm about 99% short!) but I'm glad it exists.
