My friend bought an old BMW E3 for about £300 one year to follow the rallies round in. Went well for an old banger. The one listed is quite low miles http://www.angliacarauctions.co.uk/en/classic-auct...

This looks like a really nice 230E, only 80k miles. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-230E-Auto-1991-...
Been keeping an eye on that. The 2.3 is fine in an estate, I had one, but the saloon needs a 6 cyl imo. That looks a very good way to spend £1600 though

Oh dear. Not having had a Jag or Daimler for over 10 years I now want that very badly indeed. A brown XJ6, what's not to like?mccrackenj said:

Was the 230e much more economic than the 6 cylinder?

Not posting a car but is related....
Said to She Who Must Be Obeyed, "The first you'll know about our lottery win is when you come home and there's a Tesla Model X in the path with a bow on it, for you..."
"Nah, " she said, "it'll be not being able to get down our street for all the cars you've bought for a grand each! But get me a 2CV and you're forgiven!"

Something for the individualists amongst us.
A simply excellent dog / tip run car any PHer would be proud to have on the fleet.

I can't figure out if your humour is more advanced than mine, or if you're being serious?
Spotted this 306 Cabrio on Gumtree, only £1,500 and 47,000 miles:

This 306 is very local to me so I asked the Mrs if funds might be made available, denied!
