I really liked these as a child, which was unusual since I didn't much care for Japanese cars in the main. I remember there was an Elford Turbo version which was well regarded at the time.

Cool as fking fk.

Lots of decent Japanese metal in the background of the pics is also a good sign. (Obvs not the Vauxhall in this particular photo).

If that RX7 would stay south of £3k I'd have it in a heartbeat - however it wont.

I got offered one of these in a dodgy pub for £300 when I was 18. Given the location of the pub and the demeanour of the chap offering it I have no doubt it was nicked. Always fancied one though.

I don't think his reaction was too far off.

It does seem like a lot of money for an obscure 90s Citroen with 150,000 miles on the clock. Especially for anyone who remembers that not long ago the likes of carandclassic and ebay would be (relatively speaking) filled with obscure 90s saloons that wouldn't break above £1k.

I know, I know, "The market has changed", "Find another one", "Its worth that if someone pays it", and so on, but it doesn't escape the fact that the classic 'bubble' makes thread like this much less interesting when 2k only gets you a 150k miler XM, a Rusty Serria or approximately half the payment of a MK3 Astra convertible.

Really nice V6 XM's have been selling for quite a chunk more than £2k for a while. Breakers are sub £500 for a 2.0, and anything south of £1000 generally need chunks of money thrown at them. I don't think £2k is a bad price for it in all honesty. That and you can pretend your the bad guy from Ronin...

Yep, just like an Astra or Ford from the same time zone......there is a reason for their price firming up, it is called style

XMs are awesome and with the pound now essentially worthless it seems like a lot of cool car for just 2000 of them.

The mk1 looks SOOOOOOO much better than the mk2, but then that's always the way with Citroen. The facelifts never look better than the originals.

RX7 made £2750. A steal.

I think I need this. Cooler than a penguin's ice cream.

Indeed

I've always thought the XM was striking, but in a very handsome way and a friend of ours ran one for years. When being passengered, I was always struck how astonishingly comfortable the ride was (as good as, if not better, than the old Jag we had at the time)

My Dad had a couple of Citroen GS and a couple of new BX's, so I've always had a soft spot for them. The DS prices are crazy, and the CX has been climbing for a while. A good XM could well be a safe bet.

Oh and I never knew they made a Quadra Espace, love odd ball stuff like that biggrin

1978 Toyota Corolla TA40, currently at £3800 (reserve is 4k I think) and will come with 12 months mot.
I like the car, but for the money I'd expect it to come on its own wheels, not a set borrowed from a pram...
They are..... they have clearly been banded
I think it's probably only clear if you know what a banded wheel is.

To me they look tiny in diameter, the tyres look too small and the arch gap is MASSIVE.
Like it or not that's a fairly period correct look. The wheel game was not as advanced as it is these days! The tyres might look small/stretched but they're probably still sitting on more contact patch than previously.
