Can't remember the last time I saw a rover 600 never mind a Ti. I remember heading north back to Glasgow up the m6 in the mid '90's with one of these in front of me, was a quick car in its day.
Wasn't there a difference in the pistons as well depending on the model that engine was fittted to? I'm sure the 200 got the semi forged ones and the 600 didn't. Hence limiting just how much boost you could force into the thing. As you say though, quick machines in their day. Just dont hit anything with them as they folded like worn out wallet in a smash.

Got to confess I know little about them, but still want it. Probably the antithesis of most big, heavy, modern cars.

Will be lovely to drive, but the 1600 while fine in the early versions is a bit weak in the later cars. 1800 SVT sport is where its at for these.Got to confess I know little about them, but still want it. Probably the antithesis of most big, heavy, modern cars.
Unfortunately, the Mk2, particularly the later facelift which this is, suffer monumental levels of corrosion underneath. Like, 70's Fiat/BL level.
Its fixable, but very few do - and very very few owners actually realise quite how rusty there own cars underneath.
These are getting scrapped left right and centre.
Great project though if you have a MIG and some free time.
I do like the wheels and colour too.
unless you find a garage queen low mileage that hasn't been used on salted roads in winter, buy one at £800 with as much MOT as possible and treat it as disposable fun, or use through summer then sell in winter.
We had a 1998 gold mk2 from 2008 to 2011, and the rust on it underneath was quite bad, both sills needed to be patched, so god knows what they are like 6 years later.
