Lack of torque? Lack of driving awareness more like it. The adult to plan ahead is the key to overtaking, not torque. If you plan sufficiently and wait for the appropriate time the overtake will be smoother and safer. Just booting the throttle and being off makes people take risks. Also, if the wheels hit a wet patch, for example, and the gadgets kill the powet, you have a vast sat in danger with no power to get out of the way.
I think the Porsche performance may be a little more accessible due to a better gearbox though?
In any case, I'm a huge Lexus fan, and I'm on my second LS now.
I would love one of these, but will wait for the next version when the gearbox is resolved.
If there was a way to reduce the weight as well, that might be good. Pull out 2-300 kg, and this would be a real gem no matter what.
Quality will be a standout, I have no doubt. Maybe by gen 2, it will be a real option against the germans.

I drove the car around the Ascari race track at the weekend. Let me tell you, whilst the car is heavier than it's rivals, it handles very well, the brakes are great and it is very fast. Oh how could I forget the sound track!
Also, these comments about torque. I was a passenger in a hot lap with a former F1 racing driver. Keep the revs in the right range and you have no problem. That is what racing is about, is it not. I don't think the car went above 4th gear, 8th gear is for when you are on the motorway cruising at 80mph with engine spinning at 2000rpm.
In the flesh the car looks good and is very well put together. You may not like the looks, but it will definitely stand out in a crowd. I know some people won't want that, but for over £60k I would.
I discussed the car's characteristics with the racing drivers there and they said the car had great balance and progressive oversteer. Whilst the M4 with the traction off was prone to the back end snapping out and therefore was difficult to control on the limit.
It made me wonder, how many people will actually take their M3/4 or RCF on the track anyway. On the road, I think it will be down to brand preference. Those who keep talking about the RCF's weight, you will not notice it on the road, in fact you will not notice it on the track. The reason I say this is because unless you are fortunate, you will not be able to compare these cars on a race track, before buying one.
I wait with anticipation the M4 v RCF v C63 and maybe RS5.

There's not enough 'V8 powered frenzy' in the world right now. Fair play to them for the engine, can't help thinking that a true enthusiast's car would have a manual gearbox option though.
Spot on. Where is the 3rd pedal and wonky stick for us driving enthusiast ludites!Andy665 said:

and then promptly makes it weigh 500kgs more than the M4 lol
300kg - still a lot but definitely not 500kgInteresting that Clarkson ripped it to sheds on TG and no mention of it in here yet!!
Have to say that I know it's not by any means a replacement or competitor to the LFA but WOW when you and hear the two together the LFA is utterly incredible.
I will guarantee that in the US market and in the UAE this car will sell and sell. The UK is a tiny market for Lexus in regard to this model....but just pop across the world and these will be everywhere. The badge in the UK is invisible, but elsewhere is as premium as it gets ahead of BMW, Mercedes and even Bentley.
...am I the only one to order one.....All being well I should get it in the 1st week of Sept (waiting for a 65 plate)
Near 500 bhp, coupe and stunning Lexus interior - what's not to like ?
Scalpel sharp handling is not the be all of everything when it comes to motoring...
Admit the grill looks a bit odd....
Gone for blue and std V8 (non carbon edition)

We've had one now for a few months. Currently don't like it as much as the IS-F we had, but that had adjustable suspension, which transformed it, and isn't something I can currently find for the RC-F.
In answer to the person who asked why one of these when the F-type exists, as someone who has worked for a Jag Indy, and processed warranty claims for a Lexus main agent, it's a question of reliability. I think you'll find, in real terms, the Jag won't be able to hold a candle to any Lexus, and I prefer to arrive at my destination on time, in my own vehicle, rather than be chauffeured by a member of the AA.
