Alpina fans what do we think of this ad I came across on carandclassic for a 1997 b12 with 80k miles - he wants £30k and is a bit snappy about it as well! http://m.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C606949
He sounds like a prize berk.
What a knobber.
One might assume, if being kind, that in reality he doesn't wish to sell but he's doing the necessary to satisfy the Mrs that he's trying to thin the collection down.....

Either that or I'd have to agree with the above - anyone who things rarity alone equals high value needs to look at the classifieds a bit more closely

Taken the "m" off the link, as it went to mobile version. Is it me, or are there no pics of it!?

Either way, absolutely crazy money, shirley?
Sorry I'm on the beach drinking Sangria in Barcelona smile (with a my copy of Mercedes enthusiast magazine of course!)

I, too, would pay £30k for what it seems is a glorified hire car. Wait..., no, no I wouldn't.

I think this might be the bloke who contacted me the other day directly through my website offering me a very similar/same sounding car, along with mention of other cars that I might be interested in. There was some mention of an 8-Series etc.

I didn't particularly like the tone of the email...so I completely ignored and deleted it!

Consigned to auction next week, decent chance of getting it for £2xxx I'd have thought.

Admit it, you're tempted

Was it withdrawn? I can't see it listed anywhere

That really is top drawer. For a car to keep in your garage, use occasionally (so that it doesn't matter when it's broken or in bits) but gives a lot back in terms of feel that must be hard to beat.

It's a little rum to be non-negotiable on car he himself admits isn't perfect... wink

I enquired about this car last year.

The seller is....... a little eccentric and wildly optimistic about just about everything.

That looks smashing if you can stand black-on-black - comfort seats, cruise, recent radiator/gearbox flush etc.

It definitely seems an itch worth scratching. They really are cheap.

I had a black XJR many years ago and was bought purely as Le Mans chariot but ended up keeping it a wee bit longer, one of the greatest cars I've owned.
