What makes it a 'poor' spec?
Its manual for a start!!!

At that price Id want a slushmatic for sure
Is somebody missing the point of what the 991R is all about? wink

Back on the point of price - I do agree that its ludicrously overpriced.

There is no way you can buy a £400k 911 and ever drive it. Its nothing more than a diamond ring or gold bar at this point. Why would anyone ever buy one and drive it (and therefore kill its value) when you can buy a new gt3 for a quarter of the price which is 99.9% of the car for anyone other than say a porsche works driver.

Can you actually buy one though or have they been all sold now? I lose track with the latest 911

Well that's the thing with some of these 'special' models, in that they produce them for their own chosen clientele and not for the wider public.
To get on the waiting list for these specials you have to have some serious connections in the game.

So I guess the aim of these specials is purely for publicity. (So who cares at the end of the day what the spec is and how they drive?)

I thought the very recent GT3 (the 4.0 one with manual option, not the RS) is just a normal production model? Surely the normal GT3 isnt a special? I understand that the RS is though.

I guess it is a production model.....but if you can get on the list you might get one for a 1/4 of the price of a 911R ( at present )

From the recent GT3 thread

I've just been on the phone to an OPC who have told me that ALL the build slots for cars in the next 2 years have been taken and the car is sold out.

Is this correct?

I'm sure someone will be along soon to tell me how wonderful it is and that I have no class and that it's a bargain.

The photos make it look like a badly finished fibreglass kit car and the colour does it no favours at all. In dark blue with decent panel fit I'd have one but not at that price.

Also if you miss out on a 'special' there'll be another one along in a minute. And just a little bit better.
The berks who clamour for them seem too thick to realise.
Or to be more accurate, the berks who buy them off the flippers are too thick to realise.
