I remember the contemporary road tests singling out the Evo 2 as one of the finest handling rwd saloons of the day. Certainly I can recall George Karcher in CAR thinking the handling was amazing (but didn't like the gaudy wingwork and torque light 4 cyl, both homologation constraints).
Back in the day people were always interested in Integrales and M3s. Not a single one of them seemed interested in one of these when I mentioned them.

Maybe they just weren't well known enough or considered too exotic.

Sheesh. I haven't been paying attention. I turned down an ex Pirelli Sport Evo for six grand.

Blimey - you can almost smell the new car aroma

Obviously they didn’t find 5th gear though rotate

Hoping to make a few grand as it sold for just under 40k a few years back

£26000 for a 2009 S2000 with ~60000 miles. About £10000-12000 more than one of a similar age and mileage - almost double the price. It may be a 100-car limited edition, but the differences are only the white paint and "no 002" badges on the interior tread plates. Is exclusivity worth this much? Not sure it is myself.

Lokk at Porsches, they stick some tat on a car, say limited edition and they end up as collectors items selling for st loads on the used market, all never driven and stored in warehouses.

I thought it was going to be a Mugen / Spoon and the. It’d be worth the money, but ‘just’ a white S2000 naaaa.

But there are no additions to these GT100s! Even worse than Porsche IMO. I'd love to know what it finally sells for. Obviously its worth what someone is willing to pay, but as someone who is in the process of purchasing my 2nd S2000, I'd only pay £19-20k for that.

Edit: Okay it has a "revised" version of the normal suspension, and a spherical gear knob!

I think they've over done it now, the latest 718 Spyder/GT4 has not had the huge increase in value like the previous versions that came out 3 years ago.
Perhaps the days of grovelling to the Porsche dealer to be on the list are over as people have worked out that owners spend more time on the internet telling everyone else how fantastic they drive but never use them due to st scared of putting miles on the odometer.
Catch 22 for the Porsche cult, lol

Of the 5 for sale on Auto Scout, 4 are more expensive. Which would lead me to believe it's not even slightly over priced, and that's its priced correctly.
Given there’s a 190 Cosworth currently for sale which was driven by a John Watson in that race for less than this, I’m also saying it’s over priced....

I can see why someone will pay that. A one off.
That someone won’t be me, but they only need one.

The €175k Watson car is a 2.3-16v pre any kind of Evo malarky ( https://www.mercedes-fans.de/magazin/news/sterne-u...). The link above is for the full on Evo 2. It may seem insane to spend over a £100k on a 190, but it's mid level priced. The best ones go for double that:

Interesting how much more revered and famous the M3 is yet it's worth a lot less now.

190 Evo 2s were 15-20 grand all day long from Germany when I used to fiddle with importing in the early 2000s. They never turned me on in the slightest. I guess because they don't have any reputation as a driver's (road) car, perhaps because far fewer were tested by the usual media outlets and fewer have owned them.

They look cool. There's still several thousand other cars I'd rather own.
Could you be mixing up M3 Evos with M3 Sport Evos and 190 Evo 1s with Evo 2s?

Not technically an overpriced car, but how out of your fricken mind would you have to be to pay £148,000 for this (rather hideous) Gulf livery????!!!!! That has to go down as probably the most ludicrously priced optional extras I've ever known.

In the late 90s and early 2000s Evo 2s were 15-20 grand. I could've had a Sport Evo for 6 grand, alebit a rough one. You could get solid non special edition E30s for 3-4 grand from Europe. They were just used cars at that point.

Spotless Evo 2 Integrales could be had for 8 grand if you were dillgent. I found a brand spanking new Integrale Martini 5 hidden in the bowels of a Lancia dealership and that went to the UK for 17 grand in about 2001.

I only ever saw a couple of 190 Evo 1s for sale and they were about early 10s. No one was ever interested in 190 Evos of any sort in the UK at least. I certainly sounded out potential interest enough times.

Everything was comparative peanuts back then. You could've had a 288 GTO for 140 grand. Lancia 037 and S4 Stradales were 30-50 grand. Ex works examples of either were 75-100.
