A rusty 523i with 136k miles for £6395. Get in quick, it's appreciating apparently.

Always makes me laugh when you see ‘Only going one way’, or the like, on an advert.
If that’s the case, you’d be a fool to sell it!

Lovely as it is (the term beautiful is subjective)... but thats a waste to have only done a few hundred mile.

To me, that is a pointless purchase. You can't drive it else you destroy the "value", it's not factory fresh either and it's not really a looker in the sense of parking it in your front room and staring at it all day.

All the pretentious wk from the seller doesn't help either.

How has it got 26 bids ? because 26 people want one ?

Re-shell and throw away the rest ! Classic car prices show no sign of dropping imho.

Every part is being remanufactured.

a good way to fill your time whilst on covid lockdown lol

Correct. As long as it has a legitimate chassis plate it can be rebuilt into a new shell, right or left had drive to order then sold anywhere in the world.

They had one on Bangers and Cash last year, not as bad as this one, but crazy money.

Only the VIN plate survives the resto and people still treat it like a vintage car.

Won't they just be stealing someone else Mini or giving that to a car of bits they've got?

KAF 370E is one to avoid.

What is the law around this? I mean, surely this would end up as Trigger's Broom right? I thought I saw something recently about US barn finds where they said they weren't allowed to replace everything.

Surely, it shouldn't be legal to buy a box of bolts and rust and build a new vehicle based on its identity?

Cars of that era were usually a collection of bits of other cars. I had Minis for years and they all came (or I fitted) new doors, bonnets, engines, etc.
Seeing cars with different coloured body panels was not a rare occurrence back in the day.

I get that cars have new panels etc. but the reality with that Mini is you're buying the title and won't be doing anything with that rotten engine or chassis. Seems dubious to me.

There are cars in the hyper-expensive classic arena that have been cloned and there are two running around claiming to be the same car, or completely scrapped cars that make a reappearance. D-types and the like. Court cases have been fought over them.

Good point - there was of the course the famous case where one D-Type existed as two cars - one with rear monocoque, and one with the front chassis, although that was sorted by one person buying both cars and recombining them. Allegedly there are more Lola T70s racing than were ever built.

In the Bugatti world the problem has been around for many years - where it is alleged that an unscrupulous restorer or two, over-restores a car, with perhaps 80% new components, while keeping the minimum number of specified parts required by the FIA, then places the old chassis and some parts in a hedge somewhere, and then has the rusty parts discovered a few years later...

This joker seems to think a LHD Z3 Coupé is worth £75k.

Not the iconic Z3M Coupé which on a good day may make £25-30k, but a much lesser 2.8 litre model which is comparatively easy to buy on the continent.

I’d love to have a glass of whatever the seller has drunk please.

Must have been a mistake, 14k now.
