Classic cars of value have got there from going through a process. They’re sought after, drop like a stone, nearly all get written off/stolen etc then nostalgia hits people and the price goes up. They’re rare because they’re survivors and have some substance to them and can be repaired probably for decades to come.
A new focus is given a label as rare by painting it orange it wears an RS badge gets a huge price and it’s an investment. I just don’t see how people fall for it.
It’s just like Rolex. An old submariner survivor has made the demand for new what they are and this false idea the new ones will be a good investment when in reality it’ll all fall apart when people realise there’s 20 million mint in box Rolexes as investments as opposed to the odd old school one that’s still got its box n papers!

Maybe Ford thought that's what people wanted but the MK3 never really got the love they expected.

I recall how much time and effort I spent keeping them immaculate, couldn't drive it in the rain due to how easily they rusted, and how I still had my fingers crossed every time it went for an MOT. I can understand why a GT40 is valuable, it is like a work of art/history, it can hold its own in a museum. I cannot understand why people would pay that unless they are counting on the price going up significantly, that is bubble thinking and will only end up one way, and that is a conversation with a police officer, where they ask "is there is anyone who would want to burndown the garage with both your classics in it? and hasn't the value on theses fallen significantly as the classic car bubble bursts?
