I have to hold my hand up and admit I’m not up to speed with any Mercedes model classification not being in the market for one.

I did glance at that and think ‘ Some of those big old Mercs can be good value for money even at that age if they’re good nick and low miles’

Then I clicked on it and saw what it was hehe

My own fault for watching Wheeler Dealers, the inevitable auto trader search brought this up.
Is it me but is this car slightly toppy?
Bramley Sports Cars tax - as punitive as it gets but it's kept them in healthy business for decades. The price of the Merc is crackers - 113k miles, a MOT history showing the march of corrosion, not especially well specced, and they're touting this 4 Matic model as the best things since sliced bread which it isn't.

They do have some nice stock though.

Hipster / scene tax? Madness any way you cut it.

I guess it can't really be 'overpriced' if this has been bid up to this, but whaaaaaaaaaaat? £40k plus for a low mileage P1?

That merc is nuts. I saw a really nice green one for just under 4k a few months back. So that is definitely not right.

Can it fly though?
Looks in good condition but you'd really have to want one for 10k which would probably get you an e39 m5.

Doesn't come with the wheels either. A total dreamer.

It's a handsome thing, but I think they accidentally picked up their '97 copy of Glass's Guide. Over a grand per valve.

It also comes with the 'odd scratch and ding'... Every pissin, panel is marked laugh

It's a £4-£5k car at best; but he wants double...

it doesn't look in good condition at all, the bodywork is covered in damage.

At least KGF's cars look immaculate for the prices they command.

Prices for these are going up but that is quite a speculative effort.. For a car with base spec engine, no air con, no trip computer, no passenger airbag, the hideous airbag steering wheel, no headlamp washers, suspiciously absent photograph of outside of driver's seat bolster (I think they came ruined from the factory), black gear stick/handbrake gaiters and the claim that "the carpets have never been stood on", that's a lot of money. Yeah, it's low mileage and in great condition with a slightly uncommon paint colour but it's not special, despite the Special Edition moniker. It does have the towing eye cover though, maybe that adds a few grand.

There were 2 Calibras in Green (Rio Verde) and Purple (North Cape), at least one was LHD and they were up for £7999 each for a good few months, then dropped to £5999 before disappearing. I'd be surprised if they found a buyer rather than just being stored for a later date.

Surely at least two 0’s too many?!

Maybe that’s what’s been spent on it to keep it running over the years...

It's all so confusing. On the one hand, adverts make a big song and dance over 'every option ticked', on the other, such as here, it's a selling bonus that everything's been 'deleted', even the glove box light.

And is it only me who would never buy a car from an advertiser who starts the ad with " 'X' presents beautifully in Elephant Ear grey...'?

Bonus points if they mention “motor car” and/or “coach work”...
