Seriously Overpriced Cars

I've got so much time for the VXR8, really love them. But the best part of £50k for an '09?!
I know it's a special edition Bathurst and everything, but that's a hell of a wedge of change for what it is.
The car itself I like a lot, but even at half the asking price I'd think it was a bit steep.

For me, this or a Lotus Carlton - tough decision

Anybody fancy a 14 year old X3 for 12 grand.
Nothing wrong with a 2.5, but the 3.0 or 3.0d is better in these I think.
So less desirable engine, okay (but unremarkable- 59k) miles, weird photoshopped ad (I think).
What's the light on the dash? Light bulb?
Probably a 2 or 3k car for me, being generous.

"NEVER EVER had a MOT Advisory Since Birth or Missed a Beat, Check for Yourself LT07SXS"
I checked myself. It once had an advisory for tyres.
This seller must be certifiably insane.

Aye but it was on Top Gear...I know it's a special edition Bathurst and everything, but that's a hell of a wedge of change for what it is.

That adds at least £24,000 of value!
£49k for it might be a touch rich but you could argue that one of a very limited run of cars, a particular 'type' of car (big engine, manual - of it's time) and one with a bit of history might actually be worth it. I can't decide...

Anyone fancy a 07 plate Jaguar X type 2.5 v6 for 5 grand.
Lots of pics, but seem to have been taken with a potato.
At 18 k miles it's certainly a low miler but its MOT history has a recording in km at one point.
All a bit strange.
Edit -
'photos do not give the car justice'
Maybe take your 5 grand and invest in a new camera/phone, I suggest.

"PHOTO,S DO NOT GIVE THE CAR JUSTICE"
He's not lying there at least.
Though; "DOOR LOCK,S WORK LIKE NEW, I CANT REMEMBER THE OTHER EXTRAS" is quite the pearler too.
No wonder it's so expensive. The door locks work like new. Like new!

You're not kidding. What did they take the photos with, an Ericsson T68? Lots of pics, but seem to have been taken with a potato.

Jeez, the photos!!
If it wasn't for the newish Astra next to it I'd have thought the pictures are from when it was new.I do agree with Fun Bus on it not being overpriced though, looks pretty clean from what you can see of it. It's also got very low miles for it's age. Plenty of older, higher mileage X-Types for more money for sale.
MOT history seems odd, had 5 years without an MOT and also a random MOT in kilometres. I'm basing that on the numberplate being RV07 LMY, took a few attempts to decipher but that one came back to a green X-Type.

Owner has seen some immaculate examples going for £12K and reasons that his rotted out equivalent must surely be worth £6.5K. Reality check needed on what restoration work costs!

As a little further bit on X-Types, came across this and I'm undecided - £7k for Michael Owen's name laser screened across the rear windscreen and a fancy gear knob, and the fact he sat in it when the cameras were about.
Aside from his name on the window I think it looks pretty good in the Liverpool colours.
Part of me thinks that much money for an X-Type is mental. Another part thinks for the right person it'd probably be decent value if they were into footie memorabilia, where prices for signed things can get crazy real fast. Thoughts?

Hate to say it, but that's not that overpriced either. Worth about £13-14k once restored and restos are not that expensive. Just the time involved. You could buy that, spend £5k on it and make a profit. In fact, if I had the garage space, I'd make a cheeky offer...Owner has seen some immaculate examples going for £12K and reasons that his rotted out equivalent must surely be worth £6.5K. Nice enough to drive for what they cost.
One owner Golf with the venerable 1.9PD engine... and only 10K miles:
For £7K
Surely if you want one of these you want one with decent mileage and a book of receipts, not a timewarp example last serviced five years ago. I'd guess it's been bought from an old/retired driver/widow for a pittance.
