Is it just me, or is this a tad on the high side?

That's about right I think - the 300SL has been a million pound car for a few years now.

V and P know how to charge though, so there may be a little 'creep' above what others may try and ask for it.

They do, the Sunbeam Rapier they have is a chuckle, though I think in the case of a million-plus pound motor the creep is probably less noticeable. What amuses me is those look like DD Classic's pictures they're using in the advert.

I must be way out of touch...I think the price is probably right, but I am more taken aback by the idea that people not only buy, but SELL million pounds cars on EBay. Who knew? If I was buying one of those, a browse of EBay would not even float across my mind. It would be like shopping for a Rolex in Aldi.

You must have really misunderstood eBay, I think. I've bought everything from bin bags to a £10k Rolex on there, it's not just for household junk!

Misunderstood? I don't think so. My opinion is that it's an online sthole that I wouldn't trust as far as I can spit. But that's just my opinion - I know lots of people who feel very different, which is fine by me! biggrin

Well, it's a platform used by tens of thousands of different sellers. Some are trustworthy, some are not. It's all of life, basically. If your objection is directed at the actual company itself, then that's a bit different and understandable. They can be pretty frustrating to deal with.

So, possibly not objectively that overpriced (especially having been reduced from its original £15995, and to be fair pretty difficult to price as there are only about a dozen of the things to compare it against:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2010-BMW-5-Series-4-4-5...

but this is my old 550i, which I paid £16250 for three years and 25,000 miles ago. And then traded in for about 11k (with about 52k on the clock) last year when I got fed up with the unreliability and the leaks. Lovely car in many ways, and if you do buy it I still have the 550i badge off the back if you don't like the stealth aspect.

The E61 550i a few pages ago I'm not surprised it sold at that price at all. The estates were like rocking horse st three years ago and sold pretty much instantly. The last generation of fast 5 series BMW estate but no external clues at all.

I had a feeling the V6 Clios would be the subject of ludicrous asking prices eventually - didn't think it'd be for a few years yet though. This one, however, proved me wrong.

Edit- 3k LHD one up for £57,000 too. Guess their time has come. wobble

The prices of these have gone mad.

About 3 yes ago I just missed out on one at auction.

It was decent enough and sold for £12k! Probably going for £35k or more now

I love the look of the later 9-5, but £12.5k for this one? Low mileage and standard it'd be a no. But 70k, mods, and a remapped diesel? Double no with bells on.

Brabus have a nut and bolt resto 300SL roadster (with a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty!) up for €1,890,000 so £1m feels about right for the one linked

The black with red interior one they've got for sale does it for me. Does it for me plenty.

I think I like the roadster even more than the gullwing. Not that I'd kick either out of the garage! Though Iain Tyrell's recent video about the maintenance requirements was an eye opener. Then again I imagine a Brabus one would be easier to live with if they're replacing and upgrading this, that, and the other.

Looked at one of these about 6 years ago, a Mk2, think it was about £16/17k at the time, yes they look good but they are all show and not much go, and god awful interior. Stupid money now.

Very interesting. I was looking at this ad a few weeks ago when browsing for 550is. Out of curiosity if anything although I would like to own one at some point.
How was your ownership of this one? You mention reliability issues, what was it? Small niggles or big drivetrain stuff?
By the way, I thought those came with round exhausts, we’re those rectangular ones an option of some sort?
