How about insuring it? eek

And finding a broker who's willing to give an 'agreed value' of that much. Doubt it'll ever be driven on the road. The only black Mk 1 RS Turbo built apparently. frown
Nope, apparently there are 3??

13,000 mile Orion, yours for a mere £7999.

A nice advert full of capital letters too, for extra points. "AND RARE FOR A FORD OF THIS ERA HAS NEVER SUFFERED CORROSION ISSUES..." - considering its never bloody gone anywhere I should hope not! laugh

I quite like the ethos behind Festival of the Unexceptional, but things are going too far.
I like how badly they fitted that rear number plate.

It's the only one originally sprayed black when built, the other two cars were white and resprayed black.

I always wondered with a lot of Fords of this era that were advertised as 'low mileage' had actually been around the clock at least once, as they've got 5 digit odometers.

More than likely not the case here as there's not 100k miles worth of wear and tear on that interior.

Always wonder who'll pay £8k for something like this though. Start driving it around and it loses it's appeal as a low mileage bit of tedium. But keep it as something a bit special and, well, there's plenty of other places to put £8k.

That RS price is lunacy. It doesn't matter who owned it and farted in it. Whether its Mr Smith or Lady Diana, its still the same fukin car!.
BTW, contrary to others opinion, there were 3 black cars which left the factory. They were never even very good in the first place!

How about a 1985 Escort for £722,500?

Holly fkin stballs!! I knew it wouldn't be cheap, but that is insane!!
But what it is is almost irrelevant is it not? It’s who it belonged to, its place in history and its potential future value. May as well be a half eaten mars bar.
I guess from that perspective, yes, but I have never understood something gaining value because a human I didn't know happened to come into contact with it. I couldn't care less who owned something, wouldn't add value for me not a Mars bar or and Escort RS.

Nope I am sure it was resprayed as well plus they fitted a standard grill, at the request of her security team.

Oh I agree, past ownership wouldn’t do much for me either but surely you must understand that for others it does?

I have a feeling that in around 15 years that Escort will resurface and someone will pay £2m for it.

The Lady Di Escort wasn’t over priced. It wasn’t even priced. It was auctioned.

It's not really a car, either. It's a fetish, a totem. An object of worship for the followers of the neurotic Kensington clothes-horse.

When you think about it, Diana’s Escort was that overpriced. Prince Andrew’s cost the Queen £12m...

100% That is the case... there was an under bidder who missed out,the car fetched the current market value... So it wasn't "seriously overpriced" it was sold to the highest bidder..!

What I would be interested to know is how that would compare to Diana's Metro? Same price, £30k less or £200k less?

The market for a 22 plate CVH powered Westfield can’t be huge but I think £14k is a bit steep…
I know of a rs turbo that’s sold cheap recently, the engine in it is ripe for a transplant in to that Westfield.

Came across a whopper today. How about a private sale 2010 XC90 D5? Looks a nice one, in fairness. A one owner car with a full history and only 75,000 miles. Being advertised on the local Faceache marketplace at a whopping £15,500!

I am looking at these at the moment, so I have dropped the seller a message in case it's a typo, but no he's serious. I've said, quite seriously, that I'm prepared to come today, do a deal, transfer the funds and drive it away if it's as good as he says it is, but I'd be looking to start the negotiation from about half where he is now which, if he'd care to look at the smorgasbord of others on there of the same year between £4,500 and £7,500 (the latter being both a lower mileage and better spec example than this one), is much more realistic for all concerned.

He's not having any of it.

There's optimism and chancing your arm, and there's being completely removed from reality.
Apologies if I'm missing something but why don't you go for the one which is half the price and which is also lower mileage and better spec?

ETA the going rate seems to be £11k-£14k on AT. the ones retailing <£8k seem to be on 100k+ mileage
