Murcielago GT1: You Know You Want To
It's a V12 Lamborghini racing car, what more do you need to know?!
This Lamborghini Murcielago LP670 R-SV GT1 is not a cheap way into motorsport. It's £360,000 and I'm not actually sure which (if any) championship you could use it in. However, this is a racing version of one of the wildest supercars of modern times and it is therefore worthy of considerable attention. And maybe some dribbling.
Look at the spec. The roadgoing LP670 was already really quite fast. This racing version is over 400kg lighter at 1,150kg. Much like the Bentley GT3 car, it's baffling how something so huge can weigh so little. That's less than kerbweight of a Fiesta ST!
Best of all, it uses exactly the same specification of V12 as the road car. That glorious old lump that could trace its roots back to the Miura at 670hp in a car that weighs 1,150kg. Noise? Click here.
After that they're probably shouldn't be an awful lot of explaining left to do. It actually has some notable drivers on the race history list including Peter Kox, Tomas Enge, Oliver Gavin, Jan Lammers and Norman Simon. The livery comes off easily to leave with you possibly the most evil racing car ever created. Look at it! It's even got some decent results behind it including a few podiums in the 2010 FIA GT1 championship and a win at Spa.
Imagine turning up at a test day with this. It would surely be superb at somewhere like Silverstone GP, wide and open and fast enough to get some sense of the car's ability. Although having said that, where you could use a GT1 Lamborghini must be fairly dependent on which noise tests it passes...
Perhaps it's obsolete. The money involved would be obscene. But it's a Lamborghini racing car! As this isn't a factory car it would be more hassle to use than something like a Ferrari FXX built and cared for by the manufacturer. That is also a lot more expensive and not an actual racing car though. This car is in fact built by Reiter Engineering, the same team behind that fantastic Camaro GT3. Should make a nice pair... Now, back to that video!

Gorgeous thing though, what a noise!

That will be most of the 400kg weight saving there.
I loved shooting those.
Shaky old phone vid I took sat next to Kox but the sound says it all.

If i could afford it, i wouldn't really care if i had to hire a runway for an afternoon just to enjoy it.
