On a total hunch I'm going to say that prototype isn't related, usually arch extensions like that mean a different chassis And that the donor bodywork does not fit... And why would they test it without the apparent aero they'll add to the production car?
I suspect it is the mule for the "bond" DB10 which is Vantage based but wider mikey k said:

I suspect it is the mule for the "bond" DB10 which is Vantage based but wider They haven't finalised the bodywork for the GT3 yet. They presumably just needed to test the roadcar with a wider track, so they put on arch extensions to accommodate the wider track. They surely were testing the mechanics of the new car
They will finalise the bodywork design over the next month or so, then they can test a more complete car, made easier of course once it's released to the public at Geneva

Oh look, an Aston that looks identical to all the oher Astons of the last 20 or more years! A DB7 with a wing, how refreshing.
Yawn.. thank you for your non contribution. The pictures could be a derived car from AMG GT underpinnings frocked in Aston Martin skin which is thought to be the basis for the next generation car - its certainly likely to have the AMG engine and the general architecture of the new AMG is very similar to the Aston design thats so old fashioned now...

1500 kgs is a disgrace for a CF race/road car. Does the CF have lead in it?! Looks lovely IMO but wouldn't be happy at that kerb weight.
What are you on about? Carbon body panels aren't really much lighter than aluminium which it is currently made of. Plus the chassis isn't carbon fibre.
They're stripping over 150kg out of it... Ferrari 'only' managed to strip 90kg out of the 458 in the Speciale.

Promising.
I guess I'm the only person who wants one with a manual gearbox...
Nope, I still prefer a manual 'box too, but it seems like we're a dying breed. That said I'm (unfortunately) not in a position to become an Aston Martin customer any time soon, so I guess I'm not in the demographic they are aiming at.I guess I'm the only person who wants one with a manual gearbox...
I'd imagine this car will be awesome though.
I bet that Aston looks lovely in the flesh by the way, especially in a dark metallic green. It will be ironic for me if that body is a lashed up mule with wheel arches tacked on (!) as I think it is one of the best looking cars they have made!!!!!
