Nah they don't go for Bentleys anymore, they now go for the 996 Carrera 2, lol
I thought football stars were going for Bentleys only?
Now failed football stars might go for a Carrera 2 996, which is just about the cheapest 911 you can buy and shouts "poor man pretending to be rich" louder than an iPhone 6 in gold can.

Back on topic, the market for these cars has somewhat changed since the past RS was released. Ford must have made a mint out of these by making them FWD, as the blue oval fans would buy them no matter what. The first RS was a properly fun car, mind.
This one will have to stand up to scrutiny against the Golf R, S3, and the AMG even if cheaper. Otherwise why call it RS? There's the ST to pitch against the FWD lot.
Ultimately though, Ford are the masters when it comes to up-selling their brand. Remap the ST, change the wheels, interior trim, add some chicken fence at the front, prepare some tech slides about differentials and so on and it's sold. It makes perfect business sense.
The Mustang though, I really want that. Footballers will hate it.

Well I'm not middle management or found the A45 a one trick pony; I guess because I've actually bought one that makes me one of those people then? Rather than buying a car based on what others or the internet experts thought I did go though a long process of testing various cars at some length (Golf / R / M135 / S3/ M235) and certainly wasn't just sold on the how fast I can launch a car to 60, rather the whole package of ownership and how they make you feel to drive.
The new RS will be a very good car, Ford are not stupid. This is a crowded segment these days with most hatches now 275 - 300 + Bhp which if you were looking at this 5 - 6 years ago you just wouldn't of believed what’s possible today in a practical everyday format that used to the playground only to fast Audi's and Evo's/STI’s

I think it will have no more torque steer than the latest ST. The ST has 'torque steering and camber' compensation algorithms built into the electric steering, and uses cheaper standard hubs that let it torque steer more. The RS will probably use 'revoknuckle' hubs like the last RS, that separates the steering forces from the driveshaft forces. The fact that Ford have deliberately shown of these exploits, they would never do this to build the hype when it would be such a let down (perceptively) when it rolls out in a fit of torque steer (tongue firmly in cheek)
I know it looks a bit like it's done under power, but I think it's lift off oversteer on wet roads. It wouldn't be profitable to make an AWD Focus RS, unless they're planning to release many other AWD cars on that platform.
Also if it was AWD the rear tyre would never lift. AWD cars don't lift the rear tyre, unless the rear anti-roll bar is stiffer than standard. As lift off and power oversteer is more likely in an AWD car, they engineer in more understeer with a softer rear end.
That's what I reckon, but I could be wrong.

This is absolutely correct. It will be AWD and rapid.Watched the video a few times and I think its AWD.

Some of it does look handbrake induced, but its all so fleeting, cleverly edited to keep you guessing, might just be very talented drivers and an oversteer biased fwd but gut feel is its AWD.

Just a couple of points, tyres dont just leave black lines under power. I have been passenger in an Impreza at Spa and we left 4 black lines through 1 corner at 110-120mph, that car has trouble spinning its wheels in 1st let alone 5th.
Its just from tyres scrubbing.
Other point a few people have brought up saying an AWD car wont cock the rear wheel, the Evo is generally regarded as having an epic chassis non? @ 1min and 1.45

Ok sometimes they lift in extreme handling situations. I still think it's going to be FWD but newspapers, sites and magazines like making up stuff, as it helps the sales or traffic go up. Its just from tyres scrubbing.

If it's AWD suddenly it has to be as good as the A45 AMG and upcoming Audi RS3 for a lower price. Or better for the same price. As a FWD car the Focus RS Mk3 will be as good as those cars in the dry, for about £32K. Also it will probably have more 'adjustable' handling like the ST.
