Mine was a 1968 mk2 Cortina 1600GT two door
I put chrome rostyles on it
An E interior
Loads of clocks
A banging stereo
Updated and lowered the suspension
Wipac he'll raisers properly wired through a relay with big wires
And finally a twin cam engine.
Would I want it again
Yes , to sell on.
I sold it for £350
Mug
I bet the stereo wasn't that "banging" in those days. Probably more like muffled squeaks if it was anything like the standard aftermarket stuff I suffered with.I put chrome rostyles on it

And who wired in rally lamps with relays in those days? Mine were connected into the main beam wire with a bigger fuse fitted to stop it blowing.

The banging may have been the valves in the radio falling out.And who wired in rally lamps with relays in those days? Mine were connected into the main beam wire with a bigger fuse fitted to stop it blowing.
A Mk I VW Polo with an 895cc petrol engine.
I went to view it on a rainy night in 1993 a few days after passing my test and on the strength of that viewing (done mostly by feel and hope), bought it.
When daylight appeared, I discovered that it was as rotten as a pear. That said, it looked nice was bulletproof reliable - outstanding even.
I never did get to MOT it, as I had stacked it before the year was out. The abuse it took was outrageous, but it was a loyal friend until the bitter end.
Would I have it again? Like a shot! The best banger I've ever seen.
