Orignal mini.. tiny with modern brakes.... and something modern under the bonnet... maybe some safety features too
I agree. The Classic Mini with a roll cage integrated into the bodyshell, modern brakes and lights and a 3 cylinder turbocharged engine.

I'd like a modern day Skoda Rapid. Something that doesn't rust and with modern car structural rigidity. Some decent power and updated suspension it would be like a mini Porsche 911.

Sometimes the 'classic' is only desirable when it comes complete with its driving 'character'. Not to mention the admiration of the period engineering.
Modern running gear can ruin a great car. It's not like plastic surgery on an old munter.
Might aswell buy a kit car, fibreglass doesn't rust.

Spotted a modernised Rover 2000/P35 the other day on the M25. Suprised how modern it looked. Here's one similar :-

And here's the PH road version !! :-

In seriousness though, I'd love to see a modern take on the SD1.
These two.

I'll have a Toyota 2000GT with a non turbo 2JZ engine on individual throttle bodies with all the other Supra running gear too.

A Citroen DS or CX - upgraded with all sorts of modern trickery.

I had two CX Turbos - also important would be an aluminium battery tray so the battery doesn't come out on the M20 hehe

I'd agree with the OP. Mk2 Jag. But with the supercharged V8 from the XJR...

I would disagree. I'd like a Classic Mini remastered. But only limited to improving it so it would be a decent daily driver - that is no rust on bodywork and seams, a less asthmatic engine, a hidden roll cage to bring it up a notch in safety etc.

But I would keep the steering and suspension.

My answer is none. The charm of old cars is because they are old, if you want new technology then buy a new car. It's a bit like shagging an old bird who's had a bit of work under the plastic surgeon - not for me thanks!

I saw one of these pop up on ebay with the running gear from an mx5 transplanted into it, that would seem pretty fun to me!
