RE: BMW X6 M: Driven

When they say they need to build cars like this so they can still build small, fun to drive cars, I hope they mean the x6 as a whole. It's just that How Many Left has 93 X6M's listed as taxed. Designing a car like this and only selling 100 or so is hardly going to excite the accountants is it!?
It's the halo effect though, sell 100 of these. Then 000's of people will spec an M-sport to convince everyone else it's an X6M hornetrider said:
What's not to like?
The front bumper's gopping. The back bumper's not much better. But at least they suit the bit in the middle perfectly.pigeonskirt said:

Mmm. I think you might be forgetting a subtle detail. In 2010 alone, the 3100 worldwide X6M sales were just under 10% of all X6s, and - with X5 Ms - about a third of all Ms.http://www.bmwblog.com/2011/02/02/bmw-m-sales-sign...

It's not aimed at the UK as we have little spare cash, expensive petrol and small roads. Live in Texas (or anywhere in the US) and these make far more sense. I also don't care for this silly argument about "the purpose of the M division". Yes they make stonking 3, 5 and 6 series monsters but they also design cars that sell in big numbers that make big bucks for the BMW business. Driving purist - buy a M3 or M5. Don't understand over-steer, have lots of cash and want a fast 4 seat car with a nice interior, buy an X6M. Simples!Think the old one looked better - but that's like saying Nora Batty looked better than Bella Emberg.
This one has too much completely unnecessary over-fussy styling - e.g. that second crease over the rear wheel arches, the vertical red reflectors on rear bumper etc etc. Completely naff.
And they've gone down the Mercedes route of having what-looks-like-1st-gen-ipad-resting-on-top-of-the-dash look as the nav. Ugly.
If you want this kind of vehicle, better off with the Porsche. At least the interior looks a bit more special.

These vehicles are needed so BMW can get the money to build cars that are more fun to drive, a 125i for example.
It could be argued that BMW have plenty enough cash to develop the 125i without building this, but yet they have. They're probably using the extra cash to build things like that 'active tourer' thing, which is similarly fugly. To me, this has all the disadvantages of an SUV without any of the real advantages, like a moped in comparison to a proper motorbike.
