Think the old one looked better - but that's like saying Nora Batty looked better than Bella Emberg.

This one has too much completely unnecessary over-fussy styling - e.g. that second crease over the rear wheel arches, the vertical red reflectors on rear bumper etc etc. Completely naff.

And they've gone down the Mercedes route of having what-looks-like-1st-gen-ipad-resting-on-top-of-the-dash look as the nav. Ugly.

If you want this kind of vehicle, better off with the Porsche. At least the interior looks a bit more special.
Agreed - this does look worse than the last one, and the Cayenne is surely the real answer.

I really like this.

If I had enough money not to care for it, I'd get this or an X5M as a daily and use a Porsche/ M3 or whatever as a fun car.

BMW are forced to come up with cars like this as they cannot afford not to. Just because a few people in the UK cannot understand other car cultures doesn't mean BMW shouldn't do it.

Impressive engineering, but even if I could justify the price (which I can't) I couldn't justify the look of the thing.

As an engineering exercise FAB no denying that, but the car hurl has to be THE most Vulgar, unappealing, ugly piece of crap out there and everytime I see one I think, why?. To show that you have more money than sense? X6 no, and at £90k+ rofl

It's just that How Many Left has 93 X6M's listed as taxed. Designing a car like this and only selling 100 or so is hardly going to excite the accountants is it!?
Somewhere out there, beyond the distribution of Wotsits and the enforcement of HM Television Licence Fee, there may be other markets that also sell this car. Couple of units here and there. All adds up.

Does the P.H. O'Meter rate the car or the article? I want to put a 1 for the X6 M but I quite enjoyed the Get Carter references in the article.

Fair point, but for me personally an M5 Touring would seem a better balance of 'delivering speed and everyday usability above pure driving pleasure' in the words of the article...although for the 1 day every 3 years we get snow in East Dorset, the everyday usability of the X6M might just win.

Still, it would be boring if we all wanted the same thing.

I think it's fabulous.

Although it's a shame that there wasn't more of an explanation regarding the seats as I haven't seen them on the BMW line-up previously. A new model perhaps?

It's big and brash and I don't really care for it but aren't all large SUV's to some extent? It isn't going to be bought by someone looking to be subtle is it but neither are Range Rover Sports and Cayenne's so it's only really an alternative to what's already available. It does seem a shame that the price of high end cars are going up at such a rate excluding them to the very few who are accused of having more money than sense though, 93K starting price?? I earn more now than I ever have done but are still no closer to being able to afford something like this than when I was 17 and on peanuts!

So having been out-vulgared and out-uglied by Mercedes with the MLC, BMW have hit back and are now back at the top by both metrics. smile

Think it looks great, loved the last one.

Big, stupid, pointless & OTT cars like this should be encouraged, they make our roads more interesting.

It's just so gross. Why on earth would you buy this over a Range Rover?

I accept we aren't the only market who would buy this car. What I don't accept is BMW suggesting this car is necessary so they can carry on building cheaper, more fun cars to drive. They've got that the wrong way round. They are trying to use Porsche's argument about the Cayenne.
