3 things you Love & Hate about your car..
Discussion
Very interesting responses people! keep 'em coming.
Il include my van aswell.
'13 LWB Transporter Sportline Kombi
Love:
1.The looks - Its a very menacing sight in ones rear view mirror and generally very 'sporty' for a van
2.Torque/Power- Effortless grunt from the twin turbo 2.0 lump, mated to the DSG box its fantastic.
3.Admirability - Generally, Everyone else loves it too.
Hate:
1. Too many replicas of Sportlines all over the place.
2. Interior Design flaws - scratchy plastics/foot steps, Seats don't move back far enough
3. That stupid, poxy, piece of turd Kenwood DNX525DAB headunit. Most frustrating thing I've ever used.

2. Bus lanes
3. Built like a tank
Hate:
1. 25 MPG
2. Slow
3. Loud (neighbour doesn't need an alarm clock to wake him up in the morning)
'54 Toyota Yaris D-4D

1. Reliability
2. Interior space
3. Fuel economy
Hate:
1. Lack of 6th gear

Ford Puma 'Thunder' 2002
Love:
1) Subjective, but... the looks. Can't mistake these for anything else.
2) The Transmission - mechanical simplicity with a fantastic action.
3) The handling - no matter what the weather is, it's just superb.
Hate:
1) The legendary Rear Boot - when it rains (I live in Manchester, so it's fairly common), you have to open the Boot just enough to let the accumulated water flow away before opening it properly... which often means you are stood in the rain yourself conducting this fine-tuned task.
2) The, er... Transmission - where is that sixth Gear that it needs for motorway cruising?
3) The Rust Fear - mine is sorted, but there's always that lingering worry of it returning...

Mk4 Golf tdi (daily drive)
1. Exceptionally cheap motoring - tax/insurance/fuel and (finger's crossed) reliability.
2. Nice comfy, quiet place to sit.
3. Reasonably brisk performance.
Things I HATE -
1. Owning the most boring car in the world. Kills me as a petrolhead.
2. It being so 'good' it's irreplaceable. (having no money to replace it!)
3. It's feeling increasingly tired after 150,000 miles.

MK2 MR2
Love:
Pop-up headlights
Seating position, everything is exactly where it needs to be
T-top roof
Hate:
The fear of it being my only car when the roads are icy.
The amount of times brake callipers seize.
The amount of people that just don't "get" pop-up lights.

Love:
1) The turbo and recirc valve noises going on directly behind your head
2) It's fairly powerful and relatively light (by modern standards) so it really does shift
3) MR handling: So much squatted grip out of corners but it requires a change in driving style, which is a welcome challenge.
Dislike:
1) MR handling: Has almost caused me to st my pants on a couple of occasions when I was deliberately provoking it.
2) Comfort: Polybushed and lowered all round, it's very stiff. Not technically the car's fault.
3) Fuel consumption: Number 1 from the love list causes this to be very, very poor
Cracking car though!
2004 Fiesta 1.4 Zetec:
The good -
1. Handles very well for a ordinary small car
2. All the controls are very nicely weighted
3. Surprisingly practical for a car of its size
The bad -
1. No remote locking
2. Dash is a horrible design (facelift cars are a lot better)
3. It would be nice if the engine was a bit stronger at the top end of the rev range.

I could write a long list of the things I love about my car but I’ll have to think of three:
2006 Ford Mustang GT Automatic
Things I love
1) The engine, being a V8 it sounds good from stock. With the additions I have put on it is positively thunderous.
2) Despite my best attempts to ruin it by turning it into a race car you can still jump in and drive four hours on end and get out at the other end feeling like you haven’t driven anywhere.
3) Comfy seats, the big soft leather seats are wonderful, no horrid sports seat side bolsters that cause CNS (Crushed Nut Syndrome) just nice comfy GT seats.
Things I dislike:
1) it’s a 2006 Ford so I fail to see why there (it’s a US car) was no option to have a quick clear windscreen.
2) You can’t just fling the boot open when it’s been raining (saloon boot) without the carpet/contents getting wet. This has been on many Fords and I fail to see why in the many decades since the Mk1 Mondeo that they haven’t fixed it yet.
3) Inconsistent traction control, so much so that I turn it off in anything but dry conditions. Sometimes you get a bit of wheel spin and it comes in like an anvil that’s been dropped from a crane. Other times you get a little bit of a slide going and nothing, before coming in like an anvil and sending you fish tailing down the road. Thankfully OFF means OFF not some sort of half arsed mode.

Like
1. Load space
2. Dog proof seats, it's the only car her claws don't seem to damage
3. Magical abilities to always find gaps in traffic, a stand feature on white vans I believe?
Hate
1. FWD
2. Comedy tyres, they don't wear but they don't grip either
3. The heater takes about 10 miles to get hot, on my 14 mile trip to work - Worse as I only use the van because it's too cold/snowy/icy to ride my bike.

1.4 ZR
Like;
1) The high output p/litre compared to similar engine size cars.
2) The noise. Very addictive at the top end.
3) Bare bones motoring feel. The car weighs hardly anything, and easy to wheel spin and lose the back end
Dislike
1) Rattles. Project drive ruined these cars. I'll get round to adding sound proofing one day.
2) Idiots in the mirror. There are times spirited driving is good, but not at 11pm, thanks.
3) The fan groups - still all chavs

'03' 1.8 MX5
Like;
1) No computer aids, no traction control!
2) Performance - easy to drive and can make plenty of progress with a smile on your face
3) Noise with the MX5 parts back box - Lovely jubbly
Dislike
1) Lots of rattles and squeeks
2) Economy/ lack of refinement at speed
3) Lack of supportive seats

Like
1. The looks. Nothing else like it on the road really, wish Id held out for a Green one though.
2. The pace. By no means a supercar and embarrassed a little bit by the latest brace of super hatches, but its basically a slightly quicker and sharper Golf GTI of the same age.
3. The relative rarity. See less on the road than you do the Golf.
'Hate'
1. Road noise. Can hear a bit more road noise than Id like and the exhaust can get a little boomy sometimes.
2. DSG. I love the DSG a lot, its dead fast and dead calm when you want it to be, but sometimes it'd be nice to stir the cogs manually.
3. AC/Demisting. Takes a long time to get warm or demist the windows. Wish I had a heated screen.
Still love it a lot though.

2002 Ford Fiesta 'Freestyle'
Loves:
Good throttle response due to no emissions rubbish, makes rev matching easy
Handles well for a shopping hatchback. Much better than others I've driven
Air con works surprisingly well, and upgraded speakers make time in it better
Hates:
It's noisier than I would like on motorways
The suspension is tired, although this is being sorted next week
The rust looks nasty, and the speakers make the door handles rattle. Will sort that also.

Love...
- The way all the dials light up and whizz round to the redline when you first turn the key
- The heated seats
- The acceleration and handling
- The fuel consumption. 21/22 mpg is typical for me
- The fact that the perforated leather seats are ideal for getting bunged up with chocolate and crumbs (thanks kids!)
- The 10,000 mile service intervals, and the fact that my nearest decent indie is a good hour away in the middle of nowhere
987 Cayman
+ Relatively old school for a fairly recent car (NA, manual, passive dampers, ...)
+ Boot space is huge for this type of car
+ Very useable, it feels equally at home on the motorway/town/B-road
- I wish mine came with a better radio
- I can't throw it around like my R53 Cooper S, it's not the lightest car there is and you feel it.
- The 17" wheels are too small. They might provide more comfort, but the sidewalls flex too much

Good!
1 - 5 pot noise
2 - Performance, real sense of occasion when planting it
3 - looks (subjective, but performance blue 3 door, pre-facelift )
Bad!
1- Traction, or lack of
2- squeaky interior
3- Boot somehow retains water and pours it over you (mysteriously never in the car) if it's been raining.

2006 Jaguar XKR Convertible (Weekender and high days)
Love:
The sound - V8 glory
The looks - classic and undateable
The handling - far, far better than a large GT biased convetible should be
The roof - it comes off!!!!!! (Iknow, I cheated, that was 4)
Not so much:
The windscreen - takes an age to demist, even with a heated screen
The radio ariel - 80's Halford tat. Shocking in a car of this standard
Ummmm............. fuel costs? (It's a 4.2 ltr supercharged V8, so can't really say I hate it)
2005 Ford SportKa (The station car)
Love:
Fun
Funky
Fast (surprisingly so, as I just dont brake for anything and it carries mad corner speed for such a tiddler)
Hate
Rust!!!
Crap stereo
Sliddy leather seats with ZERO support
2014 Citroen Grand Picasso (family transport)
Love:
Space age utility (space inside, flexibility etc)
Space age looks
Space age dash
Hate
Stone age handling (do NOT hustle this thing, especially with a wife and 3 kids on board)
Stone age pace (it's a 1.6 diesel)
Stone age gearbox (seriously, does it really need that 2 second pause between 1st and 2nd everytime?)

My 2001 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Volante
Loves:
Its look. After 5 years, I still smile every time I look at the car
Its sound: V12, sports exhaust - Oh yes!
The ease of driving swiftly - sports mode delivers effortless overtaking, and it is a smooth, long-legged soft-top sports-tourer.
Sound from stereo - fabulous sub-woofer integrated into the rear seat.
Un-Loves:
Lack of storage in cabin (no glove box)
Small boot
Silly rear seat that can only fit children under the age of seven or double amputees
Seat height not adjustable

Love
- Performance, coming from a Fiesta diesel it feels great.
- Looks. Boring to some but in the colour I wanted with the smaller wheels, it will look perfect to me once lowered a touch.
- Interior, bar the head unit, particularly steering wheel and seats. Wheel is nice, chunky and flat bottomed (ooer) and the seats really grab you compared to other things I've driven.
Hate(perhaps a strong word)
- Wheel spin, front wheels like to go - admittedly probably me getting used to power.
- Common. Mk5 Golfs are everywhere.
- Changed this one to my poor spec, I want a nav head unit so will put that right at some point..
