I would say the German brands are more aspirational to those lower down the social strata these days, Audis werent on the radar twenty years ago, was all Fords and Vauxhalls and maybe the odd BMW but nowadays its all about the "German Whip".
However hard they try with fancy paint jobs, spoilers & stickers a Ford will always be a blue-collar council estate car. Nobody who has made a success of their lives would want one on their gravel driveway.

....which is precisely what I like about my mk2. The mere whiff of a car making a statement about how successful I am is enough to put me off at a stroke. smile

If it was a three door with some chunky arches like the Escort Cosworth it'd be so much nicer, the Mk2 RS looks nothing like a normal focus, this one does

It's that or the fact they have no creative though as to buying a better car for the money. Either way, very council.

That looks brilliant. Is that just the concept, I thought they weren't doing a blue?
It's a pre-production car. It's about as finished as they'll get to be honest after crawling all over it last Saturday at Birmingham.

That blue is the optional Nitrous Blue. The one they said they weren't doing is Liquid Blue which is much darker and was shown on the initial cars last year.

This, i totally understand this.

Its like when i see a Lotus i just think ahh another council estate prowler who cant afford a Radical :/

Everyone has their own personal opinion on cars. Some people arnt badge snobs they like a car for what it can deliver/ how it looks. Or they dont have a job as a quantity surveyor and therfore funds are limited, does this mean they shouldnt buy a car they like because someone likes a better car?

So you class a quantity surveyor as a well paid job but describe a ford and lotus as council wobble

I dont class either as council.

I own a Ford fiesta ST.
My dad owns a Lotus Elise.

I made the point about Lotus's like he did about Ford, to show how one persons opinion can be different to another.

Agreed, get in the sea!!

How does this look more "council" than say an A45 AMG with all the aero bits and in a daft colour or with stickers?

I now have a headline figure for my potential car, £33,650 smile

Any idea when the demo's are due to hit the showrooms and the wait time on these?

Demo cars "should" be about at dealers in the spring. If you order today it probably won't arrive before the Autumn.

Ford still haven't given firm dates - even for customers cars ordered last September.

Good to know.

I would be interested in test driving one with a view to potentially getting one for March 2017.

Would be rude not to try a 5.0 Mustang too, just in case smile

I don't think Ford is particularly council, but ST/RS do seem to attract a particular sort.

It'd bloody hopping though. The facelift did a good job of fixing the headlights bit the bumper, side profile and rear are awful. A45 (without the aero and in a darker colour) is better but not by much.

And it's nowhere near the 'sub £30k' it's apologists where claiming when first announced, which isn't a surprise

Come on then, what do you drive and what makes you such a success ?

Very wealthy people do not buy Fords as a rule, Fords top out at 40k or so ? maybe that is why, still if you can afford to buy a Focus RS and run it I would say someone is doing ok.

Its amazing how many super rich successful folk are driving German Cars these days isnt it, is it because they are all doing so well or easy access to lease cars for £200 odd a month ?

And anyway, what is wrong with being working class, or "council" as you call it ?

would those massive 19'' alloys spoil the ride quality on our perfect uk roads?
