Look the same as the Mk.2 from what I can tell.
Yes, the same seats but the mounting brackets were the issue last time - rather than design a whole new bracket to properly accommodate the Recaro seat, Ford adapted the existing oem one - hence the high driving position. I wonder if they've done it properly this time.macky17 said:

Yeah, the lack of height adjustment does annoy me a bit, also the fact that the seat doesn't move forward when you tip the backrest forward to let a passenger in/out (not so much of a problem on the new RS though, obviously).dlockhart said:
didn't the evo 8 have 300 and 330 bhp 4wd and 0-60 time significantly less than 5 seconds?
Yes but didn't that need servicing every 5 minutes and do 4mpg?from what i heard the evos, especially the older ones, were always balls to the wall nutcase cars but needed a lot of looking after. They did embarrass some expensive italian machinery however...

Well it didn't take long for the insecure Golf R owners to show up!
what are you talking about this is the biggest pile of wky st i have ever had the misfortune of seeing. What the fk are ford up to the idiotic wkers?i would rather stick a cocktail stick down my japseye than be seen within 15 feet of this abortion of an automobile.
GOLF-R's FOREVER!! fk YOU FORD!!
I'm just kidding. i love this thing. I wouldn't want one because of the less than subtle styling but i get the feeling it will definitely be more engaging and fun to drive than the R.

Less than subtle styling? How subtle do you want it to be? 16" wheels with trims and a 1.6 GL badge? macky17 said:
The Ford will be more engaging to drive than the R and with 2.3 litres will have more inherent torque and tuneability. But yes, if Playstation is your thing the DSG Golf might be quicker in a straight line if you're struggling with the 3 pedals.
The new Ford engines aren't very tuneable compared to their VAG counterparts (or even Fords old YB). Thats coming from somebody on the fence. Not a fan boy of either but have friends in both camps. Even the basic Golf engine will map to a similar level to the higher output ST mapped and there is serious issues taking the 2.0 ecoboost past 300bhp without having to start replacing things I am lead to believe from a blue oval fan running his ST on an extreme dream science map at the mo.
The old Vag 2ltr with 260bhp mapped to over 300bhp with no issues. Look at what the Golf R is mapping to now and I bet the Ford unit wont safetly touch it.
I think the VAG turbo units are in a different league to Fords at the moment. Maybe not as exciting maybe with their uber tq plateaus but for pure figures no chance in the Ford.
Sure we'll know in a matter of months.

A good friend has a very powerful Lancer that's admittedly far from standard but it's been known to use most of a tank of petrol in 10 laps at Brands and that's on the GP circuit! from what i heard the evos, especially the older ones, were always balls to the wall nutcase cars but needed a lot of looking after. Its got rear bias and can send 100% to one of the rear wheels.
Power oversteer anyone
Where did you find that? The press release says "up to" 70% to the rear wheels and 100% of that to either wheel on the rear axle.Power oversteer anyone
Pressrelease said:
The control unit in the rear drive unit continuously varies the front/rear and side-to-side torque distribution to suit the current driving situation, monitoring inputs from multiple vehicle sensors 100 times per second. A maximum of 70 percent of the drive torque can be diverted to the rear axle. Up to 100 percent of available torque at the rear axle can be sent to each rear wheel.
During cornering, the rear drive unit pre-emptively diverts torque to the outer rear wheel immediately based on inputs such as steering wheel angle, lateral acceleration, yaw and speed. This torque transfer has the effect of "driving" the car into the bend, achieving improved turn-in and stability, and virtually eliminating understeer.
The AWD system has been tuned to deliver exceptional grip – with lateral acceleration exceeding 1 g – and great cornering speed and acceleration out of a bend. With neutral and adjustable limit handling, and the ability to achieve controlled oversteer drifts at the track, Focus RS delivers an exceptional fun-to-drive experience.
It all sounds very much like Haldex to me, not that it's a bad thing because it can work well if calibrated correctly.During cornering, the rear drive unit pre-emptively diverts torque to the outer rear wheel immediately based on inputs such as steering wheel angle, lateral acceleration, yaw and speed. The focus RS will be 5 door only...
That makes room for the Fiesta RS (presumably) which will have 3 doors (presumably) if it ever gets made!
Then that makes way for a new SportKA...
I see what you're doing Ford...
What? You'll have to get into the SportKa through the boot? That makes room for the Fiesta RS (presumably) which will have 3 doors (presumably) if it ever gets made!
